@Bleed @Mimi any idea why being sick or a change in food would cause a cat to act out? Like, these were legitimate bites. Very unlike him... he's never bitten anyone, let alone me.

there hasn't been a change in dry food but recently I started getting him some more "wet" food (i.e. chicken + gravy or some s---) so idk.

@rapmusik Being sick is the most likely cause, my guess would be depression? or stress. I think the safest thing to do is take him to the vet, and see what could be wrong. he could be telling you in a way, something isn't right with him.

Whoever said cats don't like attention must be,doing it all wrong. My cat follows me around my house all day long. Won't let me take a proper s--- without trying to see what I'm doing

he did it again, but I was petting him this time.

he was purring and everything, licking my hand and s---. he was fine, then out of nowhere he wrapped his paws around my arm and he bit my f---ing hand. can't figure out what's going on. his litter doesn't look any different and there are no visible injuries or anything...

Sorry @rapmusik I haven't run into that problem exactly. My cats only bite like that when I'm clearly bothering them and they warn me before biting by like whining or meowing.

But we just got a new kitten yesterday and our other 2 cats who are usually super chill and happy we're pissed and hissing at the kitten all day, which is understandable. Now it's day 2 and one of the cats is following the kitten as he sprints around the house, and he stopped hissing. Sorry to be no help whatsoever :emoji_slight_frown:

His name is Tommen (some of you should know the reference)

@Loyalty Another little cutie for me abuse with love

Is he doing it often or just the odd cat being an a------ amount?
He could have something wrong with him internally but that is always going to be hard to determine. It's one of those things that you dont want to take him to the vet if he's just acting out a bit but you dont want to risk anything.

You educate kids by spanking, you educate pets by hitting them on the nose

It's just random. Nothing leads up to it... No growling or hissing. He stops purring then bites immediately. Then he gets territorial and starts meowing loud and angered.

I read somewhere that petting them too much fills them with extra energy or something like that so I wonder if that is in anyway related.
I wish I knew. All I know is he's black with a white undercoat.

I had a cat that would snap all of a sudden. You could be petting him and rubbing his back and s--- and then without any warning he'd flip onto his back, wrap his front paws around your arm, kick with his back ones, and bite you wherever he could. Sometimes if you had your arm hanging off the side of the sofa he'd randomly jump up and bite. Other times he'd go at your legs when walking past him. I never really thought of it as a behavioral issue, I think that's just how he attempted to play. He was an indoor male cat, no interaction to animals other than our dogs who payed him no mind, except for when he had his spaz attacks and would slap them around or pounce on them as the walked by.

edit: and don't hit your cat. if dude is angry and has built up tension, the last thing you want to do is attack it. use a spray bottle to make it uncomfortable so it f---s off. never discipline it with physical abuse. .

yeah I don't hit him. I feel like that'd make him mad lol

he jumps at my legs often but he doesn't bite. He kind of hugs and then bounces off. The thing with flipping on his back and kicking while biting is exactly what he's been doing. I'd figure it's playing but his angry loud meow makes it seem like it's more than that. He's an indoor cat as well, though has tendencies to try and sneak outside.
