Mar 19, 2017 i'll say 7.5 right now. could possibly hit an 8. like someone else said, lets see how it is in a few weeks.
Mar 19, 2017 smh, bad bad opinion we'll be fine is most definitely not filler unless we talking bout birdman's weak contribution lol excellent upbeat song also i'm a f---ing sucker for that back dat a--- sample on practice and he just flows so smooth over he whole jawn, especially when he starts rapping on the last verse. never been an avg song to me i can probably see a case for doing it wrong but good ones go is like ultimate ultimate simp anthem and i'm a simp take care (from the very beginning), is the equivalent of opening some 60 year old aged wine. the production while atmospheric, just sounds like such a well put together body of work. that's like my qualm with NWTS, a lot of songs are kinda like sonically not sounding the same but i can't say that about take care at all. i'm literally addicted to the take care production and that's just never gonna change
Mar 19, 2017 I wouldn't change a thing about Take Care, except I don't like the Ride (unpopular opinion). And I'd add Club Paradise. I said it's an elite Drake project, I just am confident in saying that Nothing Was The Same and More Life are better. If You're Reading This might be as well, but I flip flop on that project a lot. And I'm not as hard on it as I am Take Care.
Mar 19, 2017 He dives in to both ends of his sound spectrum back to back and still makes a cohesive project. Cohesion doesn't mean that every song is sonically rooted in a similar place, but that it flows. And it's hard to argue that NWTS doesn't. Take Care does, but it's not as concise as NWTS. It's indulged. That's forgiven because it was an introduction to his staple sound, but Nothing Was The Same was a marked improvement in the "over indulgence" that bogs down Take Care at times.
Mar 19, 2017 For me it's just a matter of preferring this over IYRT and vice versa. I'll have to give the edge to More Life because of the highlights. EDIT: As for the NWTS vs Take Care debate, the former definitely had the potential to match or even surpass the latter. The highlights are neck to neck. His best song (From Time) is in NWTS. But when playing it front to back, it's soooo inconsistent. Transitions like Wu-Tang Forever to Own It, HOWGH to Connect or The Language to 305 To My City ruin the flow of the album. It just doesn't have 4 track streaks like Take Care (Cameras/Good Ones Go, Doing It Wrong, The Real Her, Look What You've Done). That's not me saying it has any particular bad track, but the weak cuts surely stand out a lot more.
Mar 19, 2017 nah, I don't like the ride either lol reslllly out of place sonically but it's not on the main track list so not a big deal yo, that's simply not true my friend. unless we just have different definitions for what makes a project cohesive? sound is absolutely the main key role in cohesion (for me at least..) & ive said it before but NWTS is sort of divided into 3 parts and each of those parts could 10001% make its own album with take care, you could maybe maybe say lord knows sounds out of place? idk but it's like, if you were to tell me one person produced the whole thing, id believe it, and that's something that's only happened once before with drake (SFG, albeit executed much better on take care)
Mar 19, 2017 NWTS has a lot of great songs that work extremely well on their own, but they're not as excellent when all placed in the same project
Mar 19, 2017 Maybe you can make the point that Practice would've worked better as a bonus track, but the album is really well put together lol. I guess the argument revolves around Drake sounding more mature and evolved in NWTS, with him trimming down the simpy sound. Just the execution was not quite there.
Mar 19, 2017 i think my point is i have no problems with NWTS because i love the songs but it doesn't flow from track to track as smoothly as take care does is all
Mar 19, 2017 Stick by what I said yesterday NWTS More Life IYRT TC More Life could be #1 eventually imo
Mar 19, 2017 Yes I agree, I meant the argument between you and Mike lol. Take Care still had traces of SFG so I guess I can understand why he's not too big into it.
Mar 19, 2017 Make Me Proud is a genuinely great song tbh. I'll give you We'll Be Fine not being goat but it's not bad. Take Care is his greatest achievement imo, he's never reached those heights since.
