Jul 19, 2016 So had this idea for awhile figured I would pull the trigger I'm gonna start reviewing video games that I think will result in a nice thread And what better way to start out than the mediocre Dead Island I picked this game to review today because I have a fairly strong opinion on it. Some history first, when this game was first being teased and approaching release, it was one of the most hyped titles of the year. All my buddies and myself included were pumped to play this game, looked very dope and unique. It is unique. Uniquely bad. This game deserves non of the cult hype and following that it gets. I am pulling no punches, this game is prob the biggest day 1 let down I have ever experienced in the gaming industry. I hardly ever get fooled into buying bad games, but this game flat out fooled me. I wish I could s---t Deep Silver for releasing this disc First of all, the base of the game. This game runs feels and looks like it was put together with glue. Horrible frame rates, horrible animations, is there a story somewhere deep in it's nonsense and stereotypes? It's probably not good enough to care anyway. I had PS3 launch games that ran and looked better than this In fact everything about this game is corny and meant to really drive home the fact that it has unique and cool gameplay elements shy away from the fact that just about every aspect of this game is poorly done. The entire thing is a facade, it's as if the entire world and mechanics you are playing in are just cardboard cutouts that shield the evidence of horrible cheap design behind them The characters have no emotion whatsoever, and the mundane twists on the typical fetch quest are so dumb and repetitive, ugh. It's basically get to a base world, do this and that, change scenery, get to a base and do this that. Awful game design that is made in a way just so casuals dont pick up how bad it is. The driving sucks and repairing is probably the most poorly done I've ever seen in my life, no other reason it's even in the game other than the fact that they wanted to boast that you had to fix cars. give me a break This game is so devoid of any attention to detail that I remember when I ran and looked at the ground my characters shadow literally had big skinny gorilla arms flailing everywhere. just sickening. Did they even test this game? where they just throwing things at the wall and whatever sticked would be released as a video game? look I could say a million more bad things about this game but thankfully I haven't played it in years since like first month of release, so I'm just gonna get into the story that really ties my hatred further I played this heaping pile of dung on day 1 and went HAM even though it was a trash game (it's only good element however, is the first person melee combat which is pretty good and innovative for the time) and got pretty far through the game. I had just spent my cash on this so I put it's (many) faults behind me and trucked on Big mistake thanks to Deep Silver, the best game developer in the world, once the first patch came out to attempt fixing the numerous release-day bugs of this cheap game, my save and stats were completely wiped out. Good going guys. But it gets worse, my game was then broken and all my stats were permanently set to 0 and basically there was nothing to play for. they took this already poorly crafted bargain bin left4dead and broke it in half right infront of me needless to say i dropped Dead Island and never played again This game sucks and if you meet someone who talks about it as if its a good or significant game punch them in the face 5/10 dont buy it
Jul 19, 2016 And OF COURSE the co-op was completely broken on release and you basically rolled dice on if u were gonna play with ur buddies or not, AND THAT WAS A MAIN SELLING POINT OF THE GAME be thankful anyone who didnt have to play this game on release
Jul 20, 2016 Interesting read. I haven't played it nor have any interest in it. Glad to know I shouldnt even waste money on it when it goes on sale. What's your next review title?
Jul 20, 2016 Not sure man, I was thinking maybe something I really like or something that a lot of people have played.
Jul 20, 2016 Review Sleeping Dogs next Never played this, always looked cool though. Dying Light probs s----s on it
Jul 20, 2016 good suggestion, I'll have to reacquaint myself with the game though as it's been a few years since I played SD. I haven't played Dying Light but I did play the one hour free demo on steam, and it completely blows this game out of the water quality-wise.
Jul 20, 2016 Speaking just for myself, I'd like to see a game many people haven't played. Get some recognition to games that many gamers may have passed on.
