Jul 23, 2017 just listening to this you can definitely hear his cry for help something was up and no one really picked up on it before it was too late
Jul 23, 2017 I bought Meteora for my first real gf back in high school, we'd listen to it together for ages. She was a huge fan of linkin park. I haven't listened to them in a while but respect the h--- out of them. RIP
Jul 23, 2017 The thing is, such people are also good at hiding that other side of them and keeping everything to themselves. But to be honest, I'd say that he planned everything ahead, in the last concerts, they have been performing the acoustic version of "crawling" and he'd be around the crowd and singing it with true passion.
Jul 23, 2017 Yeah I was thinking about this....my buddy tagged me in the Facebook vid they posted of him singing crawling with the fans a few weeks back. Now seeing that he did it at all of these concerts im willing to bet he started doing it on this tour when Chris died, and he had planned this all along...
Jul 23, 2017 Big props to Ryan Tedder for the tribute, and the segment touching on mental illness/Chester's passing. It's too sad to come to terms with, he touched so many people's hearts. I can really relate to what he's saying in this. God, I wish this world were different.
Jul 23, 2017 Man, all LPs music takes on a whole new meaning now. It's so surreal to hear his lyrics, it's given me a whole new appreciation for their work, and even the softer, poppier stuff I wasn't always a fan of is getting me too. The man was hurting for years and it's so f---ing obvious in hindsight. Ugh. Wish it didn't have to be like this, but I think that goes without saying.
Jul 23, 2017 I'm still in shock. It feels so wrong. Now it's clear why he was bashing fans who wanted Hybrid Theory sound to be back and didn't like new album. He had large depression. R.I.P.
Jul 23, 2017 @CockMaster and @otherLPfam I feel it's such an overplayed thing now to say 'oh I regret bashing their new album'. I don't regret not liking their new sound. But I do deeply regret contributing to the waves and waves of people who insulted it and claimed it was a sell-out when it's painfully obvious now that Chester wasnt selling out but was just really making the music that he felt he should and that he needed to make for himself. That's why he particularly had such an aggressive reaction and I'm sorry I shoved it in his face.
Jul 23, 2017 I'm still devastated .. He committed suicide on Chris Cornell's birthday. This is horrible. Part of my childhood is gone. R.I.P Chester
Jul 23, 2017 Been listening to Linkin Park only in these couple days and today for the most part I had different versions of Crawling on repeat. His voice is stuck and is echoed in my head. I'm just really still upset because of the fact.
Jul 23, 2017 Was just at this concert in Philly and a DJ played a cool mix/tribute in between sets. Didn't really hit me until then. Forgot how many hits LP had during my childhood
Jul 24, 2017 Kinda came into this thread to talk about this. I was looking at the Wiki page for One More Light and the summary of his insults/threats/etc to people who dismissed the album and made sell out accusations. Linkin Park has been mainstream since their debut, they have nothing to gain by "selling out." The entire notion of that was bs, regardless of your feelings toward the sound on One More Light. No 2 LP albums have had the same sound, not even Hybrid and Meteora. They always liked to experiment with new things, they've always been extremely multifaceted. Chester's response was wild and over the top. I thought he sounded washed up and sensitive when I first read the interview where he told fans to stab themselves in the face, but it seems pretty clear now that he was in a really unstable and dark mental state. In the same breath, like Changeling said, you don't need to justify your tastes or regret not liking One More Light. Chester was likely to have made his decisions regardless of album reception. I'm hating these youtube comments on Heavy with people saying "are you guys happy now." Chester isn't so weak to have taken his life over a bunch of internet scrubs with opinions. There were way more internal battles he was fighting than we will ever know and its only a shame that he wasn't able to get the help that he needed to win them. rip
Jul 24, 2017 Like everyone else, I grew up on LP's first 2 albums & Collision Course with Jay-Z. Matter of fact, I tweeted this the morning of his death.. " Also a huge Young Buck fan, & was very intrigued when I heard he was collabing with Chester. Song came out great too. One of my favorites off the album.
Jul 24, 2017 Used to bump the s--- out of that Young Buck song lol. Also, Linkin Park finally released a statement this morning:
