Jul 5, 2017 Socially and economically I'm pretty far left but when it comes to foreign policy I tend to me more center. A lot of people on the far-left and even some on the far-right think we should be an isolationist country. I disagree with that entirely. N. Korea is a growing threat that needs to be dealt with one way or another. There's a reason Obama told Trump that N. Korea would be the biggest issue he would face before he left office. Whatever course of action we take though, we can't go in there by ourselves for one and we can't go in unprepared. If we take military action, we have to think about what happens after.
Jul 5, 2017 I'm the same way. This is one of the few instances i completely agree with you lol. I think the most realistic coalition is one that consists of South Korea, Japan, and ourselves. I don't see Europe getting involved because tbh, why would they? I can't think of a reason they would. And what I worry about the most from this isn't the action we take itself, but what happens after. More specifically something arising between us and the chinese over how the next regime should be.
Jul 5, 2017 Nice to see actual debate/conversation here. I may have had too many Pabst's to focus entirely but still.
Jul 5, 2017 That seems like the most likely coalition but I wouldn't be comfortable with that. We need at least some type of NATO support I think in order to keep China in its place. If we only had S. Korea, Japan and maybe a couple smaller Asian countries, I think China would be willing to step in and prop up N. Korea's regime. Kind of like how Russia has stepped into Syria and propped up Assad. If it was a NATO military operation though, I think China would be hesitant to do anything. N. Korea isn't a direct threat to any of our European allies as of now but they can be in the future. It would definitely take some convincing but ultimately relationships go a long way. These alliances go back decades and I think they'd be willing to cooperate if we had a president who had their confidence. They don't want N. Korea to get a nuke anymore than we do but they need reassurance that whoever they're going to war with can effectively lead. I don't think Trump has given them that confidence.
Jul 5, 2017 I mean if nothing else works in convincing nato allies to help, there is always article 5.........
Jul 7, 2017 Yeh, yr so far left u didnt man up and vote for Bernie, de true leftist in 2016 election. u voted for that r-----ed corpporate neo liberal c---- hillary, U R Partialy Reason USA is in Dire Conditions, bc u voted for unelectable candidate. Sad!
Jul 7, 2017 She was *shrug* Sanders always sounded confused when talking about foreign policy and I didn't like him matching up with trump. Republicans would have painted him as this evil leftist communist. They would have had a field day with him.
Jul 7, 2017 They had a field day with Hillary because she's generally not a likable person and in horrible health, unlike Bernie.
Jul 8, 2017 LOL... YER so unbelievably outta touch ! - Clearly Trump wasn't more disliked than Clinton, he beat her! - Sanders is isolationist, anti war. Better foreign policy. Clinton 2 hawkish -Bernie woulda mopped floor with Trump!
