yeah it's not necessarily that I agree with 100% of what he said but more that it was an interesting/poignant take on it—especially the part that's like, if your act can't survive without you saying the n-word or calling someone r-----ed then maybe you need to tell better jokes lol.

Like, I hate the twitter tattletale police and I hate the empty gestures made by people like Tina Fey in removing an episode of a TV show because it involved a 10 second blackface joke that's so clearly satire. It's anti-art and I don't believe comedy (or any media within reason) should be censored in any capacity. But I find it just as annoying when people like Bill Burr spend a half hour of their million dollar netflix special complaining about how he can't say anything anymore because of cancel culture. Like who is canceling you dude lol. You're not bringing any new POV to the discussion and even if netflix "canceled" you there's a long line of streaming services who would love to buy exclusive rights to your material.

And also people like Jerry Seinfeld complaining about how he won't do college campuses anymore because of this and it's like dude 1. what jokes do you even have that you think would get you "canceled" and 2. what gen z college kids are clamoring for Jerry Seinfeld to perform on campus anyway lol

I thought Katt Williams' thoughts on cancel culture were really poignant:

He probably has CTE... which is sad... but he is a literal millionaire from having 5 different weekly podcats and doing stand up... while he can't speak and isn't funny (intentionally).

The people behind the scenes just thought he was part of the algorithm that would connect to more ears that are connected to wallets.

UFC guy, Rogan friend, sneakerhead, supplement taker... he hits on the dumb dipshit demo that will buy Onnit and Blue Chew and underwear that comes in the mail and subscription razors.

Has there ever been anyone more typed cast than Chris D'Elia? He's played the same type of character on Workaholics, YOU, Whitney, various podcasts and on the news.

Dr Katz deserves more love. The squiggly s--- bothers some people, but it's pretty comfy regardless.

They're definitely not anywhere close to as good as the original run but I thought they were solidly funny and entertaining. Worth a watch imo, but not endlessly rewatchable like S1-3.

His first few specials were really good and he was great as a roaster. The last special he had wasn't as good. I think his schtick is getting a little old....
    this roast was great

I don't care what anyone says, Kevin Harts first few specials were fire. At this point he's just pumping out trash for money so can't fault the man and he's become Dane Cookish.

My buddy made me watch Kat Williams newer stand up in 2018 "Great America" Now at this point it was after all of the crazy s--- he was doing and saying and I thought it was going to be straight trash..that was the best stand-up special I remember seeing that year. Way better than Chris Rock's "Tamborine"

Mike Epps has never been a good comedian lol. He's funny as h--- as an actor and I'm sure as a person, but stand-up was never where he shined

I think Kevin Hart is a decent comedic actor (I liked him in the surprisingly decent Jumanji remake for example) but his own material sucks

If you want Joe Rogan to make you laugh, watch early Fear Factor. Kills me whenever he talks s--- to the contestants (i.e. “listen to this r-----, don’t listen to him”)

yeah man. I mean obviously I've been out of it for quite a while and I don't know how amateurs do it this day between cancel culture and people saying unfunny jokes just trying to forcefully provoke shock and not understanding when they get pushback. It's a very weird time for stand-up, but I love uncomfortable comedy and always will when it's done right. Comedy shouldn't be a safe space.

Also on Louis CK @reservoirGod he definitely is a scumbag and I say that as someone who loves his standup
That's some weird s---. I still would check out his new material but he definitely crossed the line. Now the Aziz s--- was ridiculous. He should have NEVER apologized for that.

Saw the recent Comedy Central documentary about Patrice. Really took me back to when I first heard of him on Tough Crowd and that half hour special he did for Comedy Central. I even attended a taping of Tough Crowd once but unfortunately Patrice wasn’t part of the panel (Jim Norton and Keith Robinson were).
