I'm also betting on it being controversial and get into the news especially with racial tensions. Not only that, but this album might be something a mass amount of the black community will support b/c of message and even creep into the older black demographic if it gets pushed out into news a lot. Also, he's got T Swift cosign who has done 1m first week twice and with her on her Instagram with ~22m followers constantly reppin' Kendrick's name and even by some crazy chance he's got a T Swift feature on his album, he gets that huge fan base. Also Eminem did 1.7m on MMLP, so it's not unheard of for a rapper to do. Eminem also came up in a time where he was massively controversial and was pushed in the news heavy with his topics. Taylor Swift likes him, and that transfers to units sold? lol give me a break 1.6m isn't only generous, it's out of the question. He won't sell half of that
