How long did you live in Holland? I´ve been to Ameland a few times, because family used to live there. I love the beach, too bad in the summer it´s a long drive (mostly because traffic to the beach is horrible when the weather is good). You're right, we always adapt to the language of foreigners who visit our country. I live on the other side of the country, like 5 kilometres from Germany, so here most people can speak German (including myself). I go there a lot, a lot of products are cheaper there.

Mostly we just have a quick bite when we go to Ajax. Near the Arena there is a place called the arena square. It's filled with a lot of little bars, where some of them are for Ajax fans during match days. But everybody can go there. Before and after the match we always go there having a few drinks. On the square there are also different types of food to get (hotdogs, hamburgers, fries, frikandel/kroket -you know those right-?. But it's on the other side of Amsterdam, 'Amsterdam-south). When I go downtown I mostly just see what looks good, no particular restaurants. Viewing the canals while eating/having drinks is awesome. Did you try most of the dutch dishes?

Where I live a lot of people don't speak english very well. We learn it at school but because we live very close to Germany a lot of people here can speak it better than English. At school they try to teach us english (like, with that accent) but because I always watched a lot of american movies/shows I speak with an american accent. You can here a little that I'm dutch but because I use and used to speak english/american pretty often I would dare to say I speak it fluently. When I don't know a word I always look it up though lol.

Netherlands is a nice country to live in, but still, it's in the dutch culture to complain about everything lol. I hate that sometimes.
