    they've called that when it started?? That's why people are wearing masks. Every day they specifically say to stay away 6 feet due to the droplets from someone sneezing or coughing.

    Yeah, I've been furloughed as well. So my job is secure. For the time being at least. 80% up to £2500 a month paid by the government with my Company topping above that if 80% is higher than £2500. It's a s--- world right now.

    I just wish this wasn't a thing at all. Hope everyone else is doing as best as they can in this time.

    as long as we've been a species we've dealt with disease and outbreaks. We've never dealt with a 9/11. I mean if we think of it that way the Flu kills 220k-700ka year and you've probably never once even thought to compare that to 9/11. Just different perspective I guess, I grew up near NYC and had family members who worked there. This will k--- more obviously

    I'm curious to see what happens to the economy/daily life after everything being shut down for months(?)

    Like, yea the virus is bad and people are dying (not as drastic as jumping off skyscrapers but the numbers are still there), but I honestly don't think our system is/was prepared to handle this level of unemployment and potential homelessness. It'll be interesting to see where we're at in a month.

    It’s not even about money. It’s about ego. Governors have been critical of his response, as they should be, & he’s getting back at them by suggesting they’re exaggerating the number of ventilators & beds needed in hospitals. The president is petty & would undoubtedly let people die to win a pissing contest.

    God I hate to say it but there are far more stupid Americans than I ever could've thought. The president is somehow convincing some people that he doesn't need to send as many masks/other equipment as necessary cuz it's some sort of conspiracy that they're asking for more than they need..wtf is going on, how are people this dumb?

    Lives are on the line and Trump's trying to save a little money and save face and people buy into any f---in excuse.

    So many people don’t understand this. The amount of people that are scientifically/mathematically illiterate in the U.S. really shows during times like this. It’s part of the reason why our response was so butchered. S. Korea however should be praised. Their response has yielded incredible results:

    i thought 100k was a high estimate... but then took a look at Italy (which the US has followed very closely in terms of numbers and quarantine procedures):

    US is 5.5 x's Italy's population
    we're trailing 2 weeks behind them
    Italy's at 11k deaths
    which would put us at 55k+ deaths in 2 weeks
    fallout after the apex
    2nd wave
    3rd wave

    I feel like governments are relying too much on people self isolating and "social distancing". In australia we're at shutdown level 2 going to 3 and people are still out and about in parks and stuff. Or having get togethers with a bunch of friends at someone's house.

    I wonder how long it'd take to flatten the curve as they say if every single person was literally locked up inside their homes without stepping out

    A 21-year-old woman died over here in England — she had no underlying health conditions whatsoever, was perfectly fit & had necessary hospital care too.

    We’re on a (partial) ‘lockdown’ but most people are f---ing idiots so are still going about their everyday lives. Crazy times.
