All flights to NYC suspended. They just closed all non essential businesses by tonight, but they said liquor stores are essential in NJ

And how exactly is America's scenario different to any other western/developed world scenario? Multiple countries in Europe shutting everything down as well too late. Yes, Trump is an idiot, there's no denying that but get off your f---ing ivory horse thinking he is lesser than any other leader in the world right now. Name me one person that has lived in these scenarios that can offer legitimate guidance on what to do. There isn't a single person alive that has lived in these scenarios, fact. So there is currently no right or wrong thing to do. We are all gaining experience. Trump included.

wonder if liquor stores staying open as 'essential' means the weed stores here would too. I went yesterday and it was already like a 25-30 min wait, and we all had to stand 6 feet apart from each other in line to get in and they only let in 1 customer per employee at a time.

I can’t testify to what European government officials knew before hand or the response measures they did or didn’t have in place prior to the virus spreading there. I’m simply not as informed on European politics to have any answers regarding that. What I do know is that the U.S. government witnessed the virus completely take over China & Iran, make its way to Europe & devastate Italy while doing nothing. There was no precautionary measures taken, there were no plans in place to deal with a potential pandemic, nothing. The president deserves criticism for this because quicker action could have a) saved lives b) been less a strain on the economy & certainly c) immensely helped out our healthcare system which is dealing with a large influx of patients that they don’t have resources to care for. It’s not about what Trump did, it’s about what he didn’t do in the face of constant warnings from people in his own cabinet.

Look at S. Korea & Japan who both acted quickly & have flattened the curve/rate the virus is spreading in their countries.

Your facts prove the point I want to make. Some people act differently to others. Fair play to Japan and Singapore in the way they acted but it's a lottery. Who's to say that it didn't play out the other way and reacting to a potential non-issue would've caused an unnecessary economic backlash. There is no past experience for anyone to call upon. Some people called it right, some people called it wrong. And if we're using facts here, the vast majority of world leaders called it wrong. Should they be tarnished with the Trump Brush?

it's not legal here, but medical dispensaries are allowed to still operate. I'm guessing it will like that everywhere

this doesn't appear to take total population into account, so it's wayyyy misleading. Japan has close to a third of the population of the US. South Korea has like 1/7

THIS WAS NEVER A NONISSUE. That’s the problem here lol. The WHO, CDC, intelligence communities etc. were all sounding off the alarms back in January. You don’t brush off a potential pandemic when every expert at your disposal is warning you & telling you to take action yet that’s exactly what Trump did. They were putting out public statements as late as February 25th downplaying the crisis & claimed that they had “contained [the spread of the virus] air tight.” Here we are, nearly a month later, & the U.S.’s curve is no where close to being flattened & 2nd worst to China.

Adjusted for population comparison between Italy & U.S. Keep in mind, this is also with the U.S. very behind in terms of testing & we’re still doing worse off.
