Mar 11, 2020 odds are that at the end of it's run, it will be looked at as being an overblown media grab and thrown into the same category as y2k... but it'll likely be considered a *non-issue* in hindsight due to the excessive precautions being taken. I mean... NCAA just said they'll be playing in empty stadiums
Mar 11, 2020 So... as event after event gets canceled, I'm realizing the apocalypse will be very desolate and very painful; I don't know if I'll get the coronavirus but it's amazing how much society is changing. Everybody's staying home, nobody's interacting with each other, I wouldn't be surprised if the world population drops a lot because of this. Better get to watching "The Last Man on Earth" and "I Am Legend".
Mar 11, 2020 I know I'm pissed. I'm supposed to go to the big east tournament Friday night. They haven't cancelled that yet, but at this point I'm figuring they will. Funny thing is they're cancelling all of these big events like people are just going to stay inside their homes instead
Mar 11, 2020 d---, have fun if you end up there! Always wanted to go to the big east tournament, probably will one day it’s on the bucket list for sure. Grew up a huge Villanova fan.
Mar 11, 2020 I've gone the last 3 years to the semifinal games, good time. They just removed fans from the ACC tournament. Think Big East is next
Mar 11, 2020 I bet, the garden is probably unreal. Mixed in with March basketball is probably insane. But yea not looking good. They just canceled an nba game seconds before tip too
Mar 11, 2020 okay. this is officially nutso. I can't believe this is how the world ends. Part of me is hoping this is overrated and overblown but we'll see... since it's so srs all of a sudden
Mar 11, 2020 How do you "this isn't serious" idiots feel now also enough of that "only old people die" myth. Obesity is just as large of a risk factor as old age and I'm willing to bet most of you are obese. there's not a lot of obese people in china so there wasn't a way to determine it but new studies are showing that as much as a 7% increase in mortality rate can be attributed to obesity. plus asthma, cardiovascular illness and other pre-existing conditions will k--- young people too. Stop being selfish, stay home if you can, wash your hands, sanitize, and avoid close contact with other people
Mar 11, 2020 well if obesity is a factor then a lot of people here are f-----. Diet Coke sales at McDonalds are about to plummet. I still think it's blown out of proportion to a degree. There are two people within 5 miles from me and they're both chilling at home on self quarantine and fine
Mar 11, 2020 blown out of proportion or not, at least we can agree that the research for a cure has been terrible and unless the temperatures in the world rise to slow the spread (can't wait until summer) then the coronavirus will evolve and become harder to stop.
Mar 11, 2020 There's no cure for the regular Flu either. Yes there is a Flu vaccine, but that's only for certain strains. People who get that are still susceptible to getting another strain
Mar 11, 2020 Trump cut CDC funds therefore causing the virus to spread like wildfire in the US. With more testing packages and more info on how to quarantine they could of slowed down the spread of the virus but no, it's almost everywhere at this point. plus Trump destroyed a lot of research when he became president therefore causing scientists to start from almost scratch. If maybe there was everyone working together for a cure then maybe we might have a chance. at this point, being lone Wolf counties is not helping anybody here when it comes to a cure.
Mar 11, 2020 Serious question. If that’s the case, what’s the point of doing all this quarantining and containment exercises? I totally support the notion that we should all try to do our part in preventing this from spreading to others. But at this point, it doesn’t look like the virus will ever go away. Instead it’ll just keep on spreading since people can get reinfected after a relatively short period of time. Is there a reasonable expectation that if we quarantine everyone and cancel all events and basically keep as many people at home as possible that eventually this thing will just die out? I find that hard to believe since it’s already found all over the globe (based on everything I’ve seen and read). I really hope this thing dies out or someone comes up with a reliable vaccine or something. f--- this virus.
Mar 11, 2020 Pretty sure my work is the only place on earth changing absolutely nothing so far, glad they’re so worried bout us...oh by the way I work at an airport and deal with people from all over on a regular basis. Lucky me...f--- this job.
