Coming from a White Sox fan, yes, they have a great shot at winning it all.

They have a good shot, but they are also the Cubs. So what can go wrong, probably will.

The Mets are a much tougher match up for them then the Dodgers, their rotation is much deeper. I realize the Cubs are 7-0 against them, but that was pre-ASB when the Mets offense was garbage.

Lester and Arrieta will start a total of 4 times in this series, if they split those games then I think the Mets win the series. Still a tough ask to win 3 of them because it will be Lester vs Harvey and Arrieta vs Syndergaard with 3 of them being in NY.

    Harvey-Lester, Matz-Arrieta, deGrom-Hammel, Noah-Hendricks, Harvey-Lester, Matz-Arrieta, deGrom-Hammel

These are the likely pitching matchups. Mets have an advantage 5/7 of the games, and good pitching beats good hitting in the postseason. Although this series should be close. I'd go Mets in 6. (But I'm a Mets fan, so...)

Why would the Mets start Matz over Syndergaard in game 2? His last start was a week ago and he only pitched an inning in the clincher the other night. He should be locked in for games 2 and 6 with Matz going in game 4.

He may have actually thrown close to a 100 pitches that night.

Manager Terry Collins said Friday that the Mets' Game 2 starter remains undecided because they're waiting to see how Noah Syndergaard recovers from his relief appearance against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 5 of the NLDS on Thursday.

Syndergaard entered the game in the seventh and threw 17 pitches in a scoreless inning, but the rookie right-hander had to warm up four times before he actually came out of the bullpen to relieve starter Jacob deGrom. Collins estimated that Syndergaard may have actually thrown closer to 100 pitches on Thursday.

Mets are very protective of their young pitchers, especially considering what happened to Harvey. I think they should have Matz as a reliever, not as a starter. And I agree, Thor should pitch Game 2.

I never imagined the Mets sweeping the Cubs. I figured at best, if the Mets won it'd be 4-2 or 4-3. But excellent pitching and timely hitting works wonders.
