He loved Chicago, it's where he grew up, he will always think of himself as a hometown kid. He loved his time there. Loved being a Bull. But he is so excited about this next phase, I can't properly describe it to you. "And let me explain something to you: He still wants to be the best point guard, and thinks he can be the best point guard. Everybody knows about the injuries. But what they don't know is that this kid keeps working his butt off to get back. And will continue to work his butt off. Don't tell him he can't get back to where he was, because he believes he can get back to where he was. That is what the kid is chasing. And guess what? Even if he's a little bit below that? In New York? Are you kidding me? "You know what I just told him on the phone? 'I need tickets, you got me?' He laughed and said, 'I got you, Coach.' Jun 23, 2016 Well...Lopez is a solid C on a good deal. Players worse than him will end up getting bigger contracts because of the new cap structure. Grant, he's alright. 2nd year, but already 23 and couldn't take Calderon's job. He'll probably be a better fit with Fred, but who knows how good he'll ever be. Going forward for the Bulls, this was mainly to let the team revolve around Butler, which I can't be tooooo upset about. It was clear Rose was always gonna be the man as long as he was here. Jimmy is an alpha and has been the better player for 2 seasons. So despite Derrick's ceiling being higher, I understand why this had to happen. I don't like it or necessarily agree with it right now, but I get it. All I know is these idiots in the FO better hit on their next move. Will be on legit suicide watch if they trade Butler during the draft tonight.
