Jan 23, 2015 Sorry bra, but it's true. Danny Brown is a gimmick. Always loved his production, but can't get into him as an artist. I can count on one hand the number of his songs I listen to on a regular basis.

Jan 23, 2015 I own Old and ---, and that's easily enough for me to judge him as an artist. If his two strongest projects don't interest me that much, then sorry. But I've heard enough of his music.

Jan 23, 2015 Well he can make crazy songs about partying, doing drugs, f---ing etc in a very interesting way (with crazy wordplay and great usage of his voice capabilities and this signature high pitched tone), and he can make heavier introspective (even a bit depressing) songs about the consequences of the life he leads, as compelling as the previous ones. Well at least that's mainly his content in --- and Old, and his mic presence is great. His beat selection compliments his raps well, either it's his crazy party-animal side, or the sober one. I can't really write a long review or something, but that's what he's been doing for the past few years, in short. It may not appeal to some (like @Perry The Platypus), but I can't see how his rapping is either bad, or gimmicky. I don't know what will he sound like in 2015 (I'm pretty sure that he'll drop something) and if he'll keep up with this personal or move on to different topics (or different approaches?) but he's a really interesting rapper. I can understand that it may be hard to get into him, but I don't see anyone able to dismiss his skills. edit: I'd listen to his EP with Black Milk, titled Black and Brown, and then ---, before finally checking out Old. Also, a look at a pic of his might actually persuade you that he's indeed a crazy party animal that does drugs and raps about it. Older stuff like the Hybrid or a few of his tapes isn't bad, but not as good as the 3 projects that I mentioned, imo. Even back then he had some dope stuff, like Greatest Rapper Ever from The Hybrid.
Jan 23, 2015 Yeah it's actually not that bad. As for my friend, he knows how much I think Em's fallen off etc so he was probably just excited to give me more proof lmao His complaint was that Em was like off beat the entire time
