Okay so I've been producing for awhile now and I've always had a thing for the dancier s--- and edm's influenced my style pretty heavily. I'd absolutely LOVE to perform somehow but I just don't even know where to begin.

I've had an offer to do it once and had to flat out turn it down because of that. Like I have no idea how to do stuff like mixes, and I don't keep up well with new music outside of a handful of artists I like, so I feel like my taste would be pretty out there for a club. I also don't even know what to actually classify my own music as. Sort of at a loss tbh :idk:

    Anyone?

"and I don't keep up well with new music outside of a handful of artists"

I'm sure you know this, but you gotta change that asap. You gotta be in tune with plethora amounts of diff music buddy. Expand your music genre.

oh i am, it's just a lot of it isn't new. i have a huuuuuuuge music collection I'm always adding to but I'm vry picky about new stuff generally, and I don't listen to the radio ever so it's sort of hard for me to keep track of new s--- unless I check the itunes chart

To DJ, you will need decent enough knowledge of what's popular, unless you're at a niche club (like a deep house, or experimental club). What were you planning on DJ'ing with? Dual turntable with a mixer? Something like a traktor kontrol, with jogwheels in place of the turntables? Or (if you use ableton at all) the ableton push? Theres hundreds of tutorials on youtube teaching you how to mix in the different softwares, and how to use whatever hardware you choose in conjunction with them. I can PM you a couple decent channels if you want

I actually don't even have any equipment either. Like, I legitimately know nothing about nothing about DJing. Not even the basics or s--- you would use to do it lol. Probably should have said that before.
