    DMX is one of the last real ones in the game. Someone who never put on a fake persona and just says it like it is.

    Only X project I haven't listened to is The Cradle 2 The Grave soundtrack but His discog from 1998-2006 is straight fire. Wasn't really a fan of Undisputed tho

    Not everyone responds to every thread they read and the guy hasn't had a hit in years (that Lox song last year was great though). I was a huge Nelly fan for years but if someone created a thread about Nelly talking about something in a YouTube clip, I'm probably not going to waste my time pressing play unless there's new music (that's good music), or if it's something controversial.

    Are you going to get people who post s--- on social media who barely ever listened to him so they can get attention for themselves? Absolutely, but that's nothing new

    Never understood why people considered it weaker than the others tbh.

    This might be blasphemy for some but the one album I could never get into as much as the others was Flesh of my Flesh, Blood of my Blood.

    And Then There Was X.. is probably my #1 but honestly it could be It's Dark And h--- is Hot, The Great Depression or Grand Champ. They're all phenomenal hiphop albums imo.

    Also, Year Of The Dog... Again is a better than most people give it credit for.

    Not gonna pretend like I really listened to his music but it's always awful to hear about s--- like this happening to anyone. I hope he makes it through, he's a hip hop legend and addiction can be a f---ing b----.

    I understand what you're getting at but DMX isn't a rapper I'm really checking for in the 2010s. Doesn't mean I don't care about him. It sucks when it takes something tragic for people to discover an artist, but there's nothing wrong with being a late adopter. But it is annoying when people use the deaths of famous people to posture on social media and stuff and make it about themselves when they don't care about the person in question.

    Yeah, I think it's lame when people gatekeep stuff like this. There's so many different avenues and journeys people can go on in terms music discovery. I got into Parliament-Funkadelic/George Clinton through The Chronic. I'm sure a lot of older people got into Dre after they heard the Parliament samples on The Chronic.

    Hip-hop has always been collaborative. Discovering new music through samples, producers, and features is part of what makes hip-hop great.
