Aug 12, 2016 played hockey my whole life, was always pretty bad at it cause my parents forced me into it at a young age and i had no passion for it at all started playing basketball alot cause when your 6'5 for some reason everybody thinks it's a good conversation starter asking you if you play basketball so eventually i tried it. 2 summers ago spent almost every single day playing basketball with my friends and got really good at it. Still dont know if its cause my height or if im actually good at it but w/e
Aug 12, 2016 I was never allowed to play soccer, literally everyone I know played it as a child but my Dad never let me lol. I played Football from 6 years old up until this last year at the age of 18. Already miss it.
Aug 12, 2016 I played every sport you could imagine growing up and went to all sorts of camps and s---. I was always on all the travel teams and s---. My best sports were baseball and football, but I was solid at everything else. I played QB until my junior year in high school when I quit. (Sort of like the QB from Dazed & Confused lol) Unfortunately, my stubborn self had a real tough time with authority growing up so I was always getting into it with my coaches. I ended up quitting football because the coaches tried to teach me a "lesson" and made me collect all the balls after practice like I was a little freshmen. I said f--- that, didn't collect them, and never came back for the second half of two-a-days. Of course, we, or they I guess, went on to win the district championship that year. My high school coach has the most wins in PA history so he thinks he knows it all. f--- him lol. Anyway, I still play sports all the time with my boys, we play bball at least 3 times a week. Edit: never played soccer besides like when I was 5. That sport is weak sauce
Aug 12, 2016 I used to play basketball from 7th grade through most of college, only ever rec leagues though. Used to play pickup a few times a week every summer as well. Haven't played much lately but I used to be pretty decent, though as @YDB said a good portion of that skill probably comes from the fact that I'm 6'3''. At my best I was scoring like 1/3 of the points in a game (so, like 15-20 pts in HS rec leagues that usually end at 50-60 points or some s--- so take that as you will lol).
Aug 12, 2016 Been trying to get my boys to sign up with me and play in a league at my gym but they're being p-----s about it.
Aug 12, 2016 Do it, I regret not playing more intramural in college. It's super fun being on a team that's pretty much all your friends.
Aug 12, 2016 Yeah and I mean, we play together all the time so I thought it would be fun to actually go up against other teams rather than just running games in a church parking lot court lol.
Aug 12, 2016 Played soccer my whole life, been on travel teams since I was little and eventually made it to an albeit tiny D1 college team (shout-out Iona College!). I wish I took high school more seriously, could have participated in more games and perhaps made it to a bigger school if only my conduct wasn't such a mess lol.
Aug 12, 2016 Explains why it was, is and always will be bigger than all the sports you did combined. Americans typically see it as weak because you don't have to be ripped to be a good player i.e Neymar, hazard etc. They have no appreciation for intricacy. The rest of the world loves it because there are no barriers to play, and seeing milner getting megged seems far more fun to watch than your brand of football consisting a few pumped up hulks running into each other. Basketball is fun to watch though.
Aug 12, 2016 I think about this all the time, I had a great time in HS but should've taken more advantage of all the opportunities.
Aug 12, 2016 In my last year and already thinking about all the p---- i missed out on in my earlier years. Tryna make the most of my last year .
Aug 12, 2016 I hear you bro I remember HS as a very fun time as well but I got way too distracted instead of focusing more on what could have been a more productive career in sports...ah oh well I think we can both agree perhaps it just wasn't meant to be and it was a nice appetizer for what was to come in college as far as socializing and so on.
Aug 12, 2016 The rest of the world loves it because all you need is a ball to play. I have respect for the top players and I've grown to appreciate the sport (watching the World Cup at a bar is awesome) but the flopping is ridiculous and watching soccer is incredibly boring. Also, for the most part, everyone who plays soccer in my area is as soft as baby s---.
