May 10, 2018 Yea man Compton a real once in a generation tier album /s You just sound like a racist if you can't find albums that are as good as or better than f---ing Compton loool
May 10, 2018 And it's not just about being relatable...it's a product of subtle innate racism the majority of American has grown to have. Whites want Eminem to be the best at a black genre and the only one 'worth listening to', they don't want to listen to other rappers, they want black artists to only talk about 'sex money and drugs'. Etc
May 10, 2018 Referring back to me earlier statement about the south...southern rappers overall don't stack up lyrically to other regions. Someone prove me wrong
May 10, 2018 I think that album would have been received better if it was exactly what it was supposed to be. A soundtrack to the Straight Outta Compton movie. Instead Dre basically said "here's my last album, I scrapped detox for this... you know ... that album you have all been waiting for for the past 15 years"
May 10, 2018 True. After all the snippets and leaks.. like topless, popped off etc.. all what could have been detox, compton was different. I would still LOVE to hear what detox would have been ofcourse but I think he delivered a great album w both new and vet artists. Everyone did a gr8 job.
May 10, 2018 not even that. thats just human nature. people are attracted to the familiar, thats just a natural thing. people of color will listen to rappers of color, white people will more often listen to a white rapper. men will listen to male rappers, woman will listen to female rappers. its natural. what im saying is around the assumptions that people, predominately white people, have about so called "mumble rappers". its not that they are mumbling, thats their southern twang and accent when they rap. so saying that they mumble when its just their voice is an insult to their background and their intelligence, and i think this is deeply rooted in racism. there is definitely a racial factor that comes into play when it comes to rappers that dont have that accent and "enunciate clearer" such as Kendrick, but people let the racist devil inside of them out when they see rappers like Kodak who dont even mumble but just have an accent. they just indirectly perpetuating the stereotype that black males are uneducated and lazy. ppl really acting like kodak isnt lyrical or doesnt rap about real s--- just because he has a thick southern accent? lmao like i said its subliminal, and people need to wake up and realize this. terms like mumble rap are not okay.
May 10, 2018 how i also think it's incredibly ironic that this is the argument against the term mumble rap despite it being just as dismissive as people claim the term is with an added dose of "it's racist!" okay, bearing in mind that that is in no way representative of all white people who would use the term or listen to rap have you ever for once just considered that maybe people just don't like how the current style sounds and it has nothing to do with anything else and you're projecting race onto it hella hard? also, what's the problem if someone wanted to listen to more relatable music? also, this s--- is def a two way street if you're gonna play the race card with the term, cause idk how many times I've heard people on this forum rag on white artists for sounding corny or trashy etc.
May 10, 2018 Brah I have broken it down in excruciating detail numerous times here and also wrote an article on it. Idk how else I can explain it. The majority of people probably don't mean anything outwardly racist by it and I don't think that you or anyone else is racist just because they use the term but saying it has nothing to do with race is crazy.
May 10, 2018 If the vast majority of people using the term don’t think of it or use it in some racist way or with racist intent, I don’t think it’s a stretch to say it’s not an inherently racist term, and repeatedly pushing for that view on it despite that, well it’s disingenuous and just reaching for a way to discredit the term because it’s negative and you don’t like it rather there being something inherently wrong with it
May 10, 2018 It’s f---ing annoying. It’s a term that has very obvious origins (mumble rap = sounds like the rapper is mumbling) and despite that it gets conflated to mean something else entirely by people who dislike the term I don’t even use it outside of having these arguments with you guys, and I only do so because I just think it’s ridiculous and untrue the way you act like it’s some racist s--- when it’s not
May 10, 2018 Yeah I dont see how the term mumble rap is racist lol. I mean if racist people use the term to come off as racist then sure. But when I think of mumble rap (as mhch as I hate the term) I think of rappers I cant understand what the f--- they are saying. And most of the times I have no idea what race they are.
