Nov 2, 2015 In all seriousness if "this era" means 2010-present then yes, Kanye is in the conversation.
Nov 2, 2015 I said to a degree I sort of grew up on some of his stuff because of my dad so I guess I'm a little biased. I think his 90's run was one of the greatest and most dominant decades ever though
Nov 2, 2015 bunch of 30 year old fratboys wearing blue jeans and slinging a guitar over their back talking about suffering f--- 2015 country
Nov 2, 2015 I don't think it's debatable. Kanye has never made a bad album or even an average one, and has changed/altered the sound of Hip-Hop and music four different times. Not only that, but he creates all his own music, which elevates him beyond just a rapper. He has critical acclaim, acclaim from casual music listeners, and manages to make accessible music that still has more substance and content than most "popular" music. I would say there isn't even a question. Best rapper of this generation? Probably not. Best artist? Easily.
Nov 2, 2015 h--- no not even close Eminem easily is. The numbers do not lie his sales are unmatched by anyone. His popularity is unmatched. Think about this for a sec every Eminem album has won a Grammy besides one album
Nov 3, 2015 Okay I was wrong to compare him to Beethoven, but you ain't gonna deny that Kanye's albums had more different sounds each time than the Beatles albums? Doesn't mean he's better tho
Nov 3, 2015 No but I played a lot of classical s--- on the cello and I've never been really impressed so I made some fast (dumb) assumptions
Nov 3, 2015 You've already admitted that you were talking out of your a--- about Beethoven, so why go and say something as ridiculous as that and pretend you aren't talking out of your a--- again. I am a HUGE Kanye fan, and I agree that his albums each have their own unique sound, but to pretend like you know ANYTHING about The Beatles' catalogue (or any of the other artists you mentioned for that matter) is just silly. Get out.
Nov 3, 2015 Let people have a sincere opinion. He said he played pieces of Beethoven on the Cello and wasn't nearly as impressed. Quit playing the 'i have more of a right to voice my opinion' card.
Nov 3, 2015 No Beethoven but a lot of Bach and he's praised by the same people that praise Beethoven and Mozart
Nov 3, 2015 Isn't the Beatles pop rock with McCartney and Lennon composing together at the start of their career, then it becomes more melodious pop, and then you start seeing a clear line between what Lennon made (more of a mystique, calm sound) and what Paul McCartney made (more melodious pop with simple lyrics)
Nov 3, 2015 Thats a very basic and vague description of one of the greatest catalogues in music history. You claim that the Beatles discog doesn't show the variety and changing of styles/sounds that Kanye's does. This could not be further from the truth.
