Mar 9, 2021 I’m trying to understand the argument against anti-vaxxers. People say they’re compromising others, how is that the case? These “victims” would get the vaccine, therefore aren’t susceptible to the virus that an anti-vaxxer could potentially spread, no? Excuse me if I’m being fkn stupid I’m running on very little sleep.
Mar 9, 2021 Got my 1st moderna shot Saturday. Felt tired the day of and Sunday felt like someone used a baton on my arm but it's fine today. Also my 5G reception is way better now
Mar 9, 2021 Think of all the paramedics and doctors working inhuman shifts just to treat people for a disease, they wouldn't even have in the first place, if they'd get vaccinated. Plus not everone can get a vaccine due to health issues and the more people are vaccinated, the safer they'll be. Also a lot of anti vaxxers refuse to let their children get vaccines (not only for Covid but for potential deadly child diseases) because * iT cAuSeS aUtIsM* Also read @Enigma 's post
Mar 9, 2021 I really wasn't planning on getting it but the Dr at the park had some great deals. Got all 4 shots for the price of one and honestly I feel amazing. If they told people how good it felt then maybe more would get it. No side effects yet but getting a little tired..
Mar 9, 2021 i think I wont be able to get vaccinated until 2022 here in Ireland. Just want my parents to get it asap.
Mar 9, 2021 This is one of the major flaws in thinking when it comes to the worldwide vaccination rollout, people with the vaccine will still spread the virus. I also think people shouldn’t ridicule as strong as they do when it comes to vaccines as if there isn’t previous problems caused by them. Healthy, open discourse should always exist under something potentially harmful being exposed to the whole world. I agree that a lot of anti-vaxxers aren’t very bright but it’s better to educate than insult, isn’t it? A lot of people that get on their high horse when talking about this subject don’t even have a clue themselves.
Mar 9, 2021 the issue is with herd immunity. The 3 main issues are 1) not everyone can get vaccinated due to health reasons 2) vaccines are not 100% & 3) mutations. People who are immunocompromised rely on others who can get the vaccine to get it so they can safely live their lives. On top of that, vaccines are not 100% effective so the more people refusing to get vaccinated & getting sick also increases the likelihood that vaccinated people get sick as well. Lastly which I think is the most important factor is that the more a virus spreads, the easier/faster it can mutate. Mutations can make vaccines less effective so it’s in our best interest to get as many people vaccinated as possible so we give the virus as little room to breathe as possible. My grandmother & uncle (both 60+) got their shots almost 3 weeks ago now. They’re due for their 2nd dose soon. They were my main concern this entire pandemic. So relieved they’ll be fully vaccinated.
Mar 9, 2021 Also I didn't ridicule anti vaxxers, I just yet have to meet one who actually comes up with arguments backed up by science and not by Breitbart News or chiropractors Source: https://www.google.com/amp/s/thecon...ed-people-still-spread-the-coronavirus-155095
Mar 9, 2021 I got my first shot over the weekend. Arm was sore, but no issues so far. Been 4 days since I got it now. Got the moderna version.
Mar 9, 2021 There have been discussions about that here as well, but they go by age here. Which is fine as well imo. Rn we got Pfizer and AstraZeneca, and hopefully Jansen & Jansen in a few weeks!
Mar 9, 2021 Anti-vaxxers should be ridiculed for being idiots. Now if they don't want to take this vaccine I'm not really going to rag on them that much since it is new and not as well tested. But the anti vaxxers who don't give their kids life saving vaccines when they're young, like polio and measles, should be castrated. They don't use facts and spread fake news from twitter posts and memes and more importantly put their kids and immunocompromised people at risk
Mar 9, 2021 This. I understand people’s skepticism of a vaccine that has no long term data, but like you said polio and measles is way different. There’s no reason that those viruses should be making a comeback.
Mar 9, 2021 Well here I am. I took every possible vaccine as a kid and I'm not an antivax dude at all, I will vax my kids if I'll have any, but I'm still a little bit sceptical about this one. I already got COVID and I'm still suffering from what they say "long covid" symptoms.
Mar 9, 2021 One of my closest friends unfortunately falls under this category. She has a 3 year daughter who calls me uncle. Kills me she won’t ever get vaccinated. I’m just glad COVID has shown to not be as pervasive among kids her age.
Mar 9, 2021 Thats rough. A family friend of mines is also going through “long Covid symptoms.” It’s been like over a month now at least. I’d definitely advise you to get vaccinated because the antibodies from having Covid aren’t as long lasting/sufficient to entirely protect you from getting it again. I mean you more than anyone know it’s a b---- to fight & completely overcome. Also, some preliminary evidence has shown it’s significantly worse when contracted a 2nd time.
