Apr 22, 2015 What makes people think players like Griffey, David Ortiz and Jeter didn't use steroids? Those are the 3 names that always come up as a guarantee for being clean, when I think you have to wonder if they just didn't get caught. You could easily use PED's to get over an injury in the off-season and nobody would have known.
Apr 22, 2015 Yes, in the case of Bonds and Clemens, their achievements are so great you can't honestly overlook them. The major issue is steroids-area stats have upended the previous metrics for HOF -- 300 wins, 500 home runs, 3000 hits, etc. These stats imo deserve more scrutiny, and also underscores the fact that "greatness" is subjective and needs more than the previous criteria. Palmeiro, who in past decades might be a surefire HOFer, definitely isn't anymore. Not sure I'd put in McGwire either. But Bonds was soooooo dominant, and well-rounded, and legendary, you can't rly deny him, IMO. edit: wtf rumors have ALWAYS dogged papi lol
Apr 22, 2015 Jeter has this golden boy image that sports writers and ESPN would never dare question. He played 22 years until he was 40 years old and got better in his late 30s. I'm always surprised that he is NEVER questioned. All in all, I do not think he did steroids, but it certainly surprises me that it isn't even a question. It seems as if people are even afraid to dare ask the question. He played with a bunch of players who were on steriods, why not him too?
Apr 22, 2015 Griffey was relatively the same size throughout his whole career. Plus he got worse into his 30's. Also don't you think the guys like Conseco and the Mitchell report would have blown the whistle on them?
Apr 22, 2015 Pretty sure Ortiz did do them for a short time although I don't know the full story behind it, maybe he was just mentioned in something that wasn't true.
Apr 22, 2015 Jeter was still getting a lot of hits at an older age, but he wasn't hitting bombs. He was hitting a lot of singles which is what he's always done. lol at rumors and David Ortiz. His name was in the Mitchell Report. He tried to blame it last month on an over the counter substance he was using which is BS. He did/does roids As for Bonds I would say no just for how he would never admit to it. I honestly think a majority of players use s--- to help them recover whether it's HGH or roids. The guy who got busted for supplying Arod was giving him s--- that would only last 3 hours in his system. So he could go out and play a game and by the end of it he was clean. He never tested positive for his last suspension. s--- they make nowadays is so hard to detect. I'm willing to bet there are way more NFL players using HGH and roids. It's never going to go away. The game changes. The guys back in the 70s and before hand were going against mainly one pitcher an entire game. There were no relievers or closers or even some of the same pitches that we have around today. I would bet that Hank Aaron wouldn't have hit that many homers if he played nowadays. So I think eventually some of these guys will get in. But I doubt Bonds will
Apr 22, 2015 you're right...he failed an anonymous drug test and admitted it. The Director of the Red Sox was Mitchell who conveniently left him and Manny off. So the Mitchell Report doesn't really matter....
Apr 22, 2015 Good news for Bonds. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-b...--felony-conviction-overturned-221908898.html
Apr 23, 2015 HGH...I think if Griffey used anything, especially HGH he would've had a lot less injuries. He was a freak and would've been one of the best players of all time if he wasn't injured as much
