May 8, 2015 "To the hustlers, killers, murderers, d--- dealers, even the scrippers, Jesus walks for them (STRAIGHT UP!!!)"
May 9, 2015 The bottom bit wasnt for you think it was the person below I know what the definition is but it means something different in hiphop its like you get all your information from this forum and a dictionary. No kanye is not an MC an MC does not use ghost writers or credible writers as you want to put it he is a producer first who raps. Same as Dre isnt classed as an MC.

May 9, 2015 MC is literally just another word for rapper. Kanye raps, therefore he is a rapper. A producer first and foremost, sure, but still a rapper. n----- did you really just tell me I'm wrong for using the dictionary definition of a word?
May 9, 2015 Like @spurs19 I get that you probably heard your friends use ghost writer incorrectly or something, but like if my friend said that a producer was the guy who sets up the lights at a concert, it would still be wrong regardless of if I heard them say it. Same thing here. Words mean things, and you can't just change them willy nilly
May 9, 2015 No its the way hiphop is its not friends saying that its the hiphop community as a whole from artists to fans. Mc is not just another word for rapper. Flo rida raps pitbull raps but Nas is an MC. A rapper is more someone that just does it for entertainment aspect an MC writes there own lyrics is lyrical shoulld be able to freestyle (which seems a lost art these days)and is good in front of an audience to control the crowd (kanye probably does that when he isnt ranting for attention or jumping in lakes)
May 9, 2015 Eminem has always had credited writers. Stan, to be fair to the point someone made earlier, is one of the rare songs where he didn't credit other writers (unless Dido or her writer helped write his verses, which I doubt)
May 9, 2015 So, have you talked to a large enough majority of rap fans (at least 51% of all rap fans on the world) or are you just basing this off something you saw on r/hhh And as far as the MC thing, lol. Like dude, I would say buy a dictionary but it's 2015. There's no excuse to be so adamantly wrong about your word definitions. An MC is anyonewho raps whatsoever, and yes, even Pit bull is an MC. MC actually started as the term for the hype man who just yelled annoying s--- during the show to get people pumped. Over time it grew to be a term used for rappers, but generally associated with more underground types. Meaning, while the stereotypical MC is more of a Mos Def type character, anyone from Riff Raff to Vanilla Ice is also one as well. And this is from 2 minutes of googling.
May 9, 2015 Dont have to talk to the majority of rap fans to know what ghost writing means this is the only site i have ever seen where people call it just 'credible writers lol even if you want to call it that it is still frowned upon regardless. Dre and Kanye get a pass because of how good the production is but although Dre is the better producer he isnt going round calling himself a genius No your still wrong first DJ's were the original definition of MC yeah but, there is a still difference between rapper and MC i cant believe you dont know that
May 9, 2015 Ghostwriter A ghostwriter is a writer who authors books, manuscripts, screenplays, scripts, articles, blog posts, stories, reports, whitepapers, or other texts that are officially credited to another person. Derived from the original abbreviation "MC," now used as the generic term for anyone who speaks over a beat, or performs songs that could be termed "hip-hop." Afrika Bambaataa and his contemporaries at the Universal Zulu Nation were the first to exemplify this term. Originated as a term for the only individual at a party who could speak on the microphone while the DJ (Disk Jockey) was looping the hook or the beat. Various individuals claim that MC stands for the following.... Etc
May 9, 2015 Why are posting that? i already said i know the dictionary meaning but to hiphop it has a slightly different meaning. I also said the first MC was the DJ
May 9, 2015 I was posting my sources I honestly don't think you can do the same with this whole ghost writing thing. Point me to where someone had used it the way supposedly everyone does. And, giving you a huge benefit of the doubt and assuming people DO commonly use it like that, well then that just means a significant portions of hip hop heads have been using a term improperly.
