    Your lyrics don't matter if your flow is trash but you can have perfect flow & have trash lyrics & still be respected in this era. In the 90s-early 2000s, you needed to have a bit more substance in your lyrics along with the flow to get respect, a catchy hook & easy to follow rhymes didn't cut it then.

    Lyricism is so important. But it's not for everyone. To me, it gives me motivation and inspiration to hear guys like Jay electronica, Joe budden, Royce, etc. These guys can paint pictures with their words and I'll forever be intrigued by that.

    There are so many different kind of artists who are important for different reasons. Lyricism isn't always the focus.
