Feb 7, 2016 So the United States should abandon human rights and rules of war when faced with an enemy that does exactly that? That abandons everything the United States stands for and strives to be. Again, we'd be no better than they are.
Feb 7, 2016 So we're suppose to stop and treat them with respect? Come on now. They want u dead. If they captured you they would torture and k--- you. Until they show restrain in dealing with prisoners and attacking civilians I'll continue to support water boarding
Feb 7, 2016 i'm assuming most of you don't know what the geneva conventions are, you should take a chance to read up: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geneva_Conventions
Feb 7, 2016 by that logic though, wouldn't it mean you should be water boarded to, for wanting trump water boarded????
Feb 7, 2016 You don't need to break international law and human rights in order to fight terrorism. I don't know where you got this idea that I said "we should respect them." Torturing them is useless and inhumane. It doesn't provide accurate Intel so why do it? Let them rot in a prison as a PoW. Also, this went beyond just waterboarding when you said "I'm not concerned with the rules of war."
Feb 7, 2016 For f--- sakes folks, when you're a prisoner on U.S. soil, you should be treated with the same rights as everyone else. That isn't some liberal propaganda, that's the f---ing law. And thank you @Enigma for actually backing up your statements with some sources instead of some low-red picture which 90% of the time doesn't have a source.
Feb 7, 2016 Nah dude... You don't understand. They're all terrorist cuz we say they are, they all deserved to be tortured!
Feb 7, 2016 i'm not an americunt but imo, if you pretty much catch a terrorist and they 100% had intent to cause massive amounts of harm, do whatever you want to extract information. It's your country and an overseas terrorist organization is plotting to k--- innocent civilians. If obtaining information which could protect numerous innocent civilians means 1 jihadi john getting a bit of water in his lungs, I see nothing wrong with it. If anything it's good for him, makes him tougher.
Feb 7, 2016 The only time this would be ok is if we were in a ticking time bomb scenario...but that literally never happens. And although I'm against water boarding, I agree with @JMG that there is this massive campaign to try and lessen legitimate anger against terrorists. People on the left make it incredibly hard for me to sympathize with them, even when those causes are justified.
Feb 7, 2016 took that way out of context. Im saying if they dont follow it why should we? We are not on even playing ground.
Feb 7, 2016 This is reality though guys. This isn't an episode of 24 lol. Very rarely is there 100% certainty that an individual is with holding information that could save lives. What happens is that the CIA will abstract individuals that are linked with terrorists. Whether that be directly by blood or through marriage or employment etc. They suspect that you could possibly be a terrorist and could have some type of information.
Feb 7, 2016 I disagree getting information from them is great but if they inspire fear in the hearts of innocent citizens (of any country, american or not, I'm canadian and I feel this way) then they should be made to live in fear every single day. Punishment needs to fit the crime.
Feb 7, 2016 If they're 100% linked to terrorism and they're still not witholding information (but there's a possibility) do you still feel this way?
Feb 7, 2016 https://www.washingtonpost.com/blog...-to-the-facts/2011/11/15/gIQAHHiiON_blog.html pretty good article.
