Aug 2, 2015 it's an album inspired by the movie-- Dre scrapped Detox and once he saw the movie he got inspired and the album is the outcome of that. It acts as a soundtrack for the movie, but morever, a soundtrack for compton itself (hence the title Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre) released exclusively on apple music I believe
