Aug 13, 2015 Exactly. In 16 years, 20 to 40 songs is like 1-3 a year. I'm sure he recorded close to 400, but only 20-40 of those were in consideration for what would have been the Detox tracklist. Like I doubt "Topless" is included in that 20-40 count.
Aug 13, 2015 I still think the "piano heavy" version would have been the absolute best album of all-time. California rapper-producer DJ Quik was in the studio with Dr. Dre recently, and he's got lots of Detox-related news to spread: "I'm gonna snitch … [Dre's] reinterpreting Chopin symphony stuff. It's crazy, he's lost his mind. He's got like 400 records. As a matter of fact I was there for like four hours, and I think I only heard maybe 60 songs. This man's got like six or seven Detox records if he wants … And Snoop is now back in the studio with Dr. Dre." But then Quik drops this awesome bombshell: "The man is getting piano lessons from Burt Bacharach." I trust Quik. I forgot who the other article was from and can't find it at the moment but I remember somebody working with Dre said the entire thing was basically piano driven beats but Jimmy Iovine came through and squashed that idea. f--- that piece of s---. Dre's piano beats from 05-08>>>>>>>>>>> Not to mention the beat on Gone is my favorite moment in rap history.
Aug 13, 2015 @M Solo u think the album is a classic? I think over time it will be considered a classic. I think its going to have great replay value.
Aug 14, 2015 I've been on a Detox song hunt for years & these are all the completed songs I've been aware of that were meant for Detox. I doubt Topless got the finalizing treatment but it should've. Could've Been You (Feat. Slim Da Mobster, R. Kelly & 50 Cent) (Put on BISD) (Very curious what Dre's final version would've sounded like) Popped Off (Feat. T.I.) was given out later on f--- Da City Up Kush (Feat. Snoop, Sly & Akon) I Need A Doctor (Feat. Eminem) 2Nite (Feat. Kendrick Lamar & Jeremiah) The Recipe (Feat. Damien Marley) (Was later given to Kendrick) Die Hard (Feat. Eminem) (Somebody has to have this if the people promoting that boxing match got it there's people out of Dre's camp with it, greedy f---s) Drug Test (Dr. Dre, Game & Snoop Dogg) (Later put on RED) Imagine (Dr. Dre Feat. Kam, then Busta Rhymes, then Snoop Dogg) (Later put on Blue Carpet Treatment) Oh & this was random but dope af
Aug 15, 2015 You n----s keep forgetting After You Die or I'm just listening to "detox leaks" for too long time.
Aug 15, 2015 Call me crazy but I would have thought this song was from Rakim's lost Aftermath album and not Detox. But that's just me.
Aug 17, 2015 I really like the song and from memory it was confirmed it was one of the songs off his shelved/scrapped aftermath album. But really, the beat more than likely could have been a Detox throwaway. Especially considering that some Documentary beats were apparently Detox throwaways.
Aug 18, 2015 I'm just glad we didn't get the version of Detox with Under Pressure and Mr. Prescription lol. But I'm sure he's got a version of that album that sounds like an updated 2001, with stuff like the Young World beat etc.. Honestly as much as I love Compton it sucks that we'll never hear more of the Detox sessions. Remember him saying something about an album called "Planets" or something like that ? Dre might f--- around and drop it when he's 70
Aug 18, 2015 I still think Mr. Prescription was dope lol, but I think one day a lot of the detox tracks will see the light of day
