Feb 27, 2015 One of the GOATs yeah. Why is it such a problem, because he does rnb to? Is that your main problem with it?
Feb 27, 2015 Hits has always somewhat been a part of the rating system regardless of genre, well not necessarily having to have a hit, but cultural relevance and impact, which drake dominates. But you're acting like that's the sole reason for us liking him, there's more to him than that. Secondly what is he missing? He's incredibly versatile, he has bars, for example 5am in Toronto (which btw was one of the best rap songs of that year,) and he can switch to a more vulnerable, heartfelt type of song ( look what you've done). Drake and kendrick are such malleable artists (something i still feel j cole has to improve on), also drake is a great feature artist artist, and a very very impressive song writer on rnb songs and can sing quite impressive on records (obviously he's no Luther vandross but he's good to listen to. What is he missing? Even charlamagne says drake is one of the best rappers he's heard (he just dislikes his singing). Is that why you guys all have a problem? Because he blends melodic lines and rnb in his music occasionally?
Feb 27, 2015 Look I'm aware of Drake, I'm not trying to hate on the dude. But I can't sit here and say he's the GOAT like you can. Drake used to be good. That's a fact. Now? He's just become this weird parody of himself. I'm serious when I say he is his own genre. When Wayne and Drake showed up, they dominated and influenced the sound of game (the same way Kanye does when he releases stuff.) A lot of radio artists have had that same Drake sound since then within their music these past years. It used to be Usher and Chris Brown but now it's Drake. He's not R&B and he's not Rap anymore. That sound has now become Drakes entire persona and he's become this artist that parodies himself. I really don't know how else to word that. It's like if Drake was trying to make a Drake song. Artists evolve and change and I just think that Drake has changed to the point where he's lost the appeal as a rap artist that I would put along side of the RAP/HIPHOP GOATS. He's obviously a big and unforgettable artist that will have left his mark because of his huge success, but he's not a rapper that would be alongside Tupac in the Hall of Fame. If anything I would accept if he took GOAT status of his genre. I'm not saying he is R&B but I would accept if you called him the GOAT of R&B. Just not Rap. This is as logically I can think of to defend my point without trolling or talking s---. Honestly, if THIS Drake was the Drake we had now I would gladly crown him GOAT: @AnalOnFirstDate
Feb 27, 2015 @Final I don't even know how to respond to that, I knew it'd be the whole 'rnb' vibe which makes you question it, it's always the same argument with people who get so worked up about him being mentioned among the greats, 'he's too soft', 'he sings too much' etc. I just think drake has a 'different' product to offer, I don't think he should be dismissed from rap because at the end of the day it is. And just for the record that's not a genre, that's just drake's sound, there's a huge difference.
