Mar 4, 2015 Here's the thing about All Day. It has great energy, and the tempo (rather the constant change in tempo) is something only Kanye could string together. But that's the most exciting part about the song. Let's put it this way, if I could only take one of 'All Day' or 'If You're Reading This, It's Too Late' moving forward, it would be the Drake tape. Without hesitation b, that's about as easy a decision as Rihanna asking me to eat her a---.
Mar 4, 2015 Nope. There are maybe 4 songs on that 17 track tape that the project could have done without. And the only reason I say that is because the rest of the tape is so good. No matter how much you enjoy a song like 6 God or Used To, there's a clear step up when Legend comes on. All Day is great, and it's in the mix with the other elite 13-14 tracks on the Drake tape. That's it, nothing more or less.
Mar 4, 2015 Naw If I had to choose between listening to the last two minutes of all day or anything off this tape, I'd choose all day. It's much more interesting to me
Mar 4, 2015 mccartney whistling and some electronica is much more interesting than drakes mixtape/album hahahaha
Mar 4, 2015 than a bunch of throwaways (for the most part) that are dominated by drake's faux cockiness and put-on accent, while he glides on auto pilot? yeah Cept Swizz agreed.
Mar 4, 2015 @Narsh what do you mean by autopilot, I didn't quite understand that point when I read your review either.
Mar 4, 2015 that he's not really trying on a majority of these. that half the cuts he has on this are second nature to him by now. am i alone in feeling like that?
Mar 4, 2015 I think you could make that argument in terms of the sound, sure. A lot of it is borrowed (and then improved on) from older joints, 6 God to 6 Man for example. But the quality of writing on the project alone is enough to question that statement. I don't know if he has a bad verse on this joint fam. And then songs like Now & Forever and You & The 6 make you wonder that if he's throwing these on a tape, what heat is he saving for the album. Like I said, All Day is great, but I can't say it's anything more than as good as the joints on this tape.
Mar 4, 2015 what do you find so appealing about the writing? at side from a few tracks it seems like basic bravado, or rehashed narratives. i think tracks like legend are definitely interesting, but something isn't pulling me in about tracks like you & the 6, idk
Mar 4, 2015 It's Drake's ability to song write. He is like Kanye West in that he pushes the genre. Drake sets moments in his songs not only by utilizing the production, but by utilizing his voice and tone as well. And you might think this has nothing to do with penmanship, but it does - when you switch tempo or tone, you may be required to fit more or less words in a bar depending on how you are required to balance it sonically. Drake is great at this. This is why bars like "I was running through the 6 with my woes" leave such an impression. For example, Know Yourself is two different songs, and the switch up happens at the hook. Star67 as well. A great example of what I'm saying is in his Tuesday verse: You could be on one end of the spectrum where you're like Biggie and the bars you write are phenomenal. Or you can force people to judge your music on an entirely different spectrum. That's what Drake has done and shown on projects including this one.
Mar 5, 2015 This has bothered me ever since I first heard it. In Used To, in Wayne's part he says "s--- a niqqas d-ck for an iPhone 6". Am I missing something or is he advocating sucking someone off for a phone??? Did I miss the context from a previous or following line?
Mar 8, 2015 Can people give a free download link for this mixtape or is that banned here? Or is it worth the money? Ridiculous having to pay for a mixtape.
