Oct 26, 2016 the only thing close to motm 1 is tc imo, both projects were soundtracks for that specific year for me. nwts is something light and iyrt will never get any praise from because of the help he got, I do enjoy the music on it tho. the influence off that first album by cudi is still strong today with artists like travis etc. which makes it even more great. motm2 was great to me, i'll take that over nwts. I think you should revisit that album b.

Oct 26, 2016 I'm not really bothered by what was said in the bars tbh he didn't really mock the concept of mental health and it's existence like say... Troy Ave did. That was easy to be *justifiably* upset about. I like Cudi, I like Drake (even both their last albums for me were eh af), I think these bars are actually just pretty honest shots at Cudi cus even Cudi himself has put out there plenty of times he gets high to deal with the mental. Which is nothing new for many people who deal with mental health s---; myself included. That said, it doesn't make it any more or less right, nonetheless Drake more or less right in what he was saying Cudi was doing. Only way people should be upset at Drake right now is if he was out here mocking the fact he deals with not (or the concept of it in general), not so much sending a shot at how he does (which Cudi provoked first anyway) be it in tracks, interviews, subliminally, etc.
Oct 26, 2016 word i spent a lot of time with MOTM2, it had the same aesthetic as the first one but not the same charm. for that reason it's average to me (7/10). MOTM1 is a soundtrack for me as well, but it's still a flawed album same as take care. NWTS is the best out of all of them because of how concise it is. it's is the only one out of the group that has gotten better with age to me. i don't like IYRT for the same reasons as you stated, but it has some gems.
