Word. I think I like the less poppy Drake more. Keep The Fam Close might be my favorite song on Views.

Super genius that he took some random female London artist's heavily Dancehall-influenced track (Which was already under 3 minutes long), snips it by a few seconds to make it shorter, writes some of the simplest (And corniest. And non-compelling) lyrics he's ever written. AND VOILA! It's The Number One Song. Of his. Not hers. Of his. We're not understanding the highway robbery that's going on in the industry that he kinda catalyzed though.

It's funny 'cause other n-----'s careers would have been in the can. But there's that Back to Back diss track against Meek Mill and "If You're Reading This, It's Too Late" that preceded the "Views" release, which somehow provoked the naturally purchasing demographic majority audience to immortalize him and his very preciously exalted name. I guess that was persuasive and convincing enough.

Cha-Cha....I mean, Hotline Bling, was also another artist's. And to be honest, his Sweeterman Remix is the only good stolen (Or borrowed, since Drake aficionados don't like empirical statements being used as supposed "Unfairly Unwarranted Slander. Nah. Euphemism are better. But I'll digress.) track he really ever had. Ahhhh....it's alllll genius. Fairly simple. Facile at best. And a cakewalk at worst. BUT STILLLLLLLLLL!!!! The butterscotch-complected modern-day industry p---- is fighting the good "Manufactured Artist" fight while depicting a heroic figure (Voice of The Voiceless AKA The Vanguard of New-Age Genre that is "Hip-Pop") who has to take risks no one else is willing to.

I sure do miss when his intestinal fortitude was being accentuated by fearlessly crafting his own material and honing his own skills the good old traditional way. You know. With artistic integrity and all that good stuff, applied and implied. If people are going to write his music, the s--- should be about as epic as a Tim Burton Danny Elfman "Batman" score. 'Cause if not, it's kinda pointless. I'm not even trying to say it's lame that he has various ghostwriters anymore. I just wish people had better taste, because as it stands, the charts reflect that we're at an all-time-low right about now.
