Aug 3, 2015 Not to mention Drake has nothing to do with the publishing of Meek's inlay. Meek lost for taking a Drake throwaway and pasting a verse on it from the jump, it got worse when that song ended up being the best joint on his album
Aug 3, 2015 really though, where the f--- is meek? also where does Rick Ross fall into all of this lol
Aug 3, 2015 @Jet he came up with the all of the flows for Rico and the concept of the song that's such a lazy defense, Rico was by far the worst of the reference leaks
Aug 3, 2015 Okay the concept, sure but I see the whole thing more as a really gentle nudge in the right direction. Certainly not enough of a reason to credit him there. The three other reference tracks (which are all credited) are quite a bit more blatant
Aug 3, 2015 lol he literally laid out the melodies, Drake changed the lyrics that's half the work in itself if not more there's not a single bar that's original flow from drake in the verse actually
Aug 3, 2015 Drake will never ever get back to the stay schemin quality unless he kept track of all the people who wrote for him throughout these years and reaches out again.
Aug 3, 2015 Drake shouldn't need a "gentle nudge in the right direction" .... Anyway as far as Ross goes I think he's too busy with all of his court issues to care about Meeks problems. I'd like to know what Nicki thinks of all of this ... What if meek and nicki release a collabo drake diss lol
Aug 3, 2015 imagine the difference in the creative process between having a blank instrumental, and having all of the flows you're gonna use laid out for you and you just have to pick and choose words to replace
Aug 3, 2015 So what does that say about Meek's creative process, who took a near completed joint out of Drake's recycle bin, laid a verse on it, and called the song his own. Rappers take cadence and hooks from other people often, that doesn't bother me. If anything, it bugs me that the most memorable bars on Know Yourself aren't Drake's.
Aug 3, 2015 I don't understand what you're saying about Meek but what I'm talking about has literally nothing to do with him. You don't see the difference between literally being sent flows laid out for you for the entire length of a verse and "rappers taking cadence and hooks from other people" whatever that even means? Just from the standpoint of someone who has made songs and albums, having this done for me would make songwriting indescribably easier.
Aug 3, 2015 I'm saying RICO was a Drake throwaway. It was a song made by Drake for Drake (with the assist from Vinylz, 40, QM, and whoever else). It ended up being something he wasn't going to use, so he gave the track to Meek. We're talking about creative process in rap, I'm trying to paint a bigger picture. Rappers like Meek take already finished tracks, lay a verse on it, and call it their own. But we're not speaking about Meek, so whatever. Laying out cadence is laying out the flows for the verse. A lot of times producers or other creatives will mumble over a beat so rappers know how to write to it. You can hear that in Kendrick's version of All Day as well. Getting flows laid out for you common practice. Producers know how to mesh vocals with production better than rappers do.
