Oct 20, 2015 drake has done this tho, he "stole" thugs swag on i mean for his live from the gutter verse let's not act like drake "stealing" things isn't a reality. i put stealing in quotes tho b/c that has a harsh implication and i dont really blame drake for most of what he does (except for when he lacks creativity and s---)
Oct 20, 2015 well they kind of are. drake just used the sample of the song cha cha was recreating. drake is a biter. this is nothing like riddims--those have names that attribute them to their creator.
Oct 20, 2015 everyone always brings up kanye at about this point in the conversation. but kanye has NEVER been the subject of an authorship dispute over any specific songs. it happens all the time with drake.
Oct 20, 2015 it's a lawsuit about mike dean supposedly hearing some street vendor's music and jacking it. and maybe that's true. but it's not the same topic, really: drake is constantly tweaking up-and-coming waves just enough to make people think they're his. there's little by the way of a unifying aesthetic to his work. beyond that, i'm willing to bet if anyone's guilty on the wtt, it's dean, as great a producer as he is. kanye has thrown everyone in the room in the writing credits for his whole career.
Oct 20, 2015 Huh?? He's been accused at least a few times. Made In America, that French song Gucci Mane, the hook on Bound 2 from the Ponderosa twins, Aphex Twins for Blame Game, and that's just a few I was able to find, not to mention Rhymefest wrote Jesus Walks. Back to Hotline Bling though, is Drake suppose to talk about these guys and give them props every time the song is brought up? It was released as Hotline Bling (cha cha remix) on apple music. Even the situation with QM, dude was credited on every single song he worked on. This idea that you been pedaling around that because some of Drake's music is influenced by others is a mark against him as an artist is ridiculous.
Oct 20, 2015 lol "aphex twins" rhymefest has a grammy for jesus walks hotline bling was stripped of its "cha cha" tag once they realized it was blowing up drake's comments re: riddims and writing off his process are ridiculous there are reference tracks by miller for songs on which he isn't credited even on the ones he is, he's delivering drake ENTIRE SONGS drake's music isn't suspect because it's "influenced" by other things. it's suspect because it's propped up entirely by other peoples' ideas. if this were an artist with half a spine, they'd have dram in the writing credits
