Oct 21, 2015 dude... that Quentin Miller s---, if it happened to Jay Z people would have been way more harsh that they are to Drake. We're talking about full reference songs... the flow, the delivery the lyrics.. everything
Oct 21, 2015 I said significant. Like Jay, Em, and many many other rappers, they play off older rap song's flows and lyrics to pay homage. Eminem did it so many times its almost hilarious, but clearly you know he's doing it on purpose ("It's like a jungle sometime it makes me wonder....", his Dead Wrong verse that he "ripped" off Royce da 5'9, etc). I'm talking a song where it's just him, by himself rapping. Tuscan Leather, all the AM songs, Say You Will remix (say what's real), The Calm, anything from Comeback season, give me something like that. Not some stupid a--- club song. You can pull two handfuls of rappers who do that s--- for club songs, which are the only ones people keep mentioning. No excuse for them still (I don't like ghostwriting or whatever at all) but I'm not going to entirely discredit the man for some clearly club hits.
Oct 21, 2015 Are yall gonna just ignore 30 for 30 freestyle too like it didn't just drop? You and the 6? Come on man...
Oct 21, 2015 You right http://www.complex.com/music/2011/06/royce-da-59-25-essentials/renegade He did it with other songs tho
Oct 21, 2015 He has songs that I love, but yes, I can discredit this guy now if I know he does that s--- n so many ways and forms. Club hits are exactly the worst thing about it, it's where he gets his popularity from. You think that people will know that he ripped his verse of Who do you love? Only hip hop fans would know. I didn't even know it.
Oct 21, 2015 what's so exceptional about 30 for 30 "freestyle" (lol) except for him saying: i'm Drake, i'm hated, people hate me and want me to lose, wbu 40?, please choose me fam, i'm Drake, i'm the greatest to ever do it
Oct 21, 2015 Nothing exceptional at all imo. Like he chose three or four random things to discuss and failed at doing them coherently
Oct 21, 2015 So you're just not a fan lol I mean that's what the song was about. What do you want him to talk about? You? Write him a personal letter about what you want to hear from him and i'm sure he'll put it in his next song
Oct 21, 2015 These types of songs are like his PSAs. Paris Morton Music, 9am, 5am, 6pm, etc. You don't like them, fine, but if there's one thing you can say about them it's that they're coherent.
Oct 21, 2015 I remember being VERY disappointed when i heard the aphex twins song and the beat for blame game. @WPG how do u explain my disappointment? i dont remember all the legal details, but wasny ye kinda ehhh about authorship there or something -- in any case, its not exactly a creative flip
Oct 21, 2015 I thought it was sort of random lol. Like he bounced around a bit.. And was incredibly vague. Not impressive to me.. To each their own
Oct 21, 2015 i think it's fair to complain about it not being a creative flip. but the sample was listed and cleared. if i remember correctly, the disagreement was that kanye had flipped it in a way that AT was dissatisfied with, and when he offered to replay it his camp blew him off. so maybe a s-----y decision personally and creatively, but not legally.
Oct 21, 2015 Yeah but IMO that's sort of the point with his "freestyles', to touch on a few different subjects.
