    i'm very much in the "Takeover > Ether" camp. i've written about it professionally. "Ether" resorts to playground taunts at times. it's still leaps and f---ing bounds ahead of "Back to Back." come on.

    idk how to answer that honestly, not right now at least.

    take care is my favourite drake album, but off the top, i can name you an album from each of the last 10 years that i like more or equal to take care. Free TC from last year, My Krazy Life from 2014, kaleidoscope dream from 2012, etc etc.

    but Drake is bigger than his albums, his throwaways/summer smashes define our summers here, and whether or not his music is 10/10 bluechip top class doesn't matter. my friends and i will likely be playing controlla every time we pre drink this summer, and the rest of views when we cruise. jus like we played 10 bands and hotline last year, tuesday and 0-100 the year before that, 5am the year before that etc.

    drake is the artist i listen to when i'm with my friends, whether or not he's a 10/10 artist on metacritic, or if pitchfork gives him best new artist doesn't matter to me. fact is, as long as views sounds good to us, we're going to play it.

    so i anticipate his music and the memories that come with it. he'll never top GKMC, f---, he might not even top TPAB. but i don't think i'll ever give TPAB another top down spin again in my life, and I don't remember the last time i went and listened to a random joint off of GKMC. where i live though, drake's 2009 cuts get revisited when you go to any house party, put any iPod on shuffle, or hop in to just about anyone's car.

    idk why i like drake, but i don't really think i need to stress too hard about coming up with a good answer. he makes music i enjoy heavily, for the 3:30 run time itself, and the memories that follow.

    this summers gonna be lit, and views will be in rotation until we all head back to school.

    @WPG hasn't flipped on GKMC...he WAS calling it a classic, or a near classic. The reversal is that he was saying the same thing about Take Care at the time, we all were

    This new meme that came out of 2015 that Drake is a biter without any original voice of his own is a bit baffling to me. People often cite WATTBA, but he doesn't sound like Future on that tape to me...he just sounds like Drake on a Future song. Similarly, what is If You're Reading This a blatant rip off of? I won't argue Drake is putting out earth-shattering, groundbreaking music. But I don't think he's being flagrantly derivative, or at least not far moreso than your average rap artist

    Anyone who listens to music knows that everything depends on context. Kanye can get away with a lot of goofy s--- when he's doing his aw-shucks thing on soul samples; it gets harder to sell something like the bleached a------ line on Pablo, because it's trying to be an artful song and it just doesn't click. If you go back and listen to those great Eminem radio freestyles, a lot of the punchlines don't look good on paper, but he was so fluid and so fun that it didn't matter. By contrast, at this point in his career, he's straining so hard to force every line that it reads differently, and far worse.

    You just a wrote a review and then made tons of caveats like "I don't normally write reviews" and "imagine taking reviews srs" and "I don't care what anyone else thinks." f--- outta here with your qualifiers. You wrote a review and that's that. You only don't take other reviews seriously because your inner Stan can't take that this ok album is getting ok reviews.

    The thing is though, there's nothing wrong with that. I get that he dresses them up as something deeper, and that's why people have an issue with it, but the music is still great all things considered.

    I'm not saying he's the second coming of Nas, but this album is great through out and if we're caught up on his lack of authenticity in regards to his relationships, we're going to miss that fact.

    I'm lite skin tho so all these anthems are tailor made for my life, Im the type of guy to fall in love with the lady who takes my order at Starbucks and spells my name on the cup right.
