Been listening to Amityville more often than I have in ages. One of Eminem's grittiest songs to be sure, and one of the few where he sounds convincingly psychopathic, especially in the hook and in the first verse (yes the first, not a typo). If this isn't rap metal I don't know what is. While I'm no metalhead by any means, the beat and especially the outro are as hard as any golden-era Metallica tune I've heard. Even Eminem's attitude and emphasis on delivery here reminds me a bit of James Hetfield in his prime.



Both are similarly intense, and both are masterpieces of vocal delivery. Also worth noting that Amityville is one of his few songs with at least two different recordings of the hook, with the delivery in the final iteration being more pointed and hence climactic (others that come to mind are American Psycho and p---- Like Me). This is common I think in metal songs such as the one above.

Em has never been a #1 hot 100 guy. He only has a total of 5 number 1 hits in his entire career. And 2 of them are with Rihanna.

Just as comparison, Lil Wayne has over twice as many #1 hits. And Drake has like 25.

I’m not surprised by that 44k #. Other than Godzilla all the biggest hits on this were from nine years ago or more. And it’s filled with filler tracks between the big hits people actually know. This is a project intended for the casuals and they tried to inflate its #s with a bunch of random tracks that were never hits.
