Feb 22, 2016 when someone that doesn't really listen to hip hop, which name are they mentioning? Eminem sometimes Pac too but definitely not as often as Em .. he basically represents Hip Hop to a wider audience just like Elvis and the Beatles did for Rock n' Roll and so on
Feb 22, 2016 Cute sentiment but following those 3 up with Encore, Relapse, Recovery, HTS, and MMLP2 absolutely throws you out of the top 10.
Feb 22, 2016 but it depends on how you look at it, imo it's not necessary about the whole discography you reach some status at the best point of your carrer and that's how people remember you if you were really big, it's like that not only in music but in sport for example
Feb 22, 2016 Is this really asking whether a 50 year old Eminem will be considered better than the generation of rappers coming up in their 20s? It's an unfair comparison. Eminem cemented his place in the all-time top 10 between 99 and 2003 by reaching heights almost no other rappers have reached before during or after. It's like saying Zidane is a s--- footballer at the age of 48 and therefore is no longer considered a great. Marshall is a legend.
Feb 22, 2016 I agree when you're talking about somebody like Kobe, who had 17-18 amazing years and 2 not so good ones. With Eminem, over half of his discography is poor. 4 bad albums is too much to overlook when thinking about top 10s.
Feb 22, 2016 y'all really need to leave your forum world for a little bit. Eminem is probably the most all-rounded rapper in history (let alone top 10). Also those albums you mentioned are pretty liked except for Encore. Even though I personally don't like Relapse that much. I swear forum people.
Feb 22, 2016 There's nothing well rounded about him. Had a great prime, fell off, put out some decent music and fell off again. I'd love to continue this but I've hit my max quota of posts in the EmSXN for the day.
Feb 22, 2016 ok I get your point but I really think Em made too big impact at the start of his career to not be remembered as a legend, I think we have to wait at least 10 or 20 years to see where's Eminem place in hip hop history
Feb 22, 2016 I usually try not to respond to this type of stuff but I got 20 minutes till sb picks me up - Probably the greatest lyricist of all time - Extremely versatile when it comes to flows, cadences, rhymes - Wide range of topics/ subject matter - One of the most vivid storytelling abilities in Hip Hop - Ability to trigger emotions with his art like many others can't - Longevity / Having people excited for him after 17 years Yeah, bro. There's nothing well-rounded about him. We both know what this is about, we're just dancing around it. Leave your forum bubble for a minute and actually talk to people or at least listen to what heavyweights have to say about him.
