Jul 3, 2015 Ya I have noticed that but I think it's cause he's ran out of a lot of his go to topics to rap about but Idk really. I saw this more as two rappers just going hard not really trying to show a message
Jul 3, 2015 It's a cluttered and messy 6 minutes that I'll never revist Em sounded alright at parts but that's not worth listening to the entire track Especially for battle bars I've heard before
Jul 3, 2015 If the song is not for U move ON, you guys like to study songs not listen to it, All u do is analyze the beat, flow, metaphors, anything until u find a fault.....I am pretty d--- sure that if eminem releases lose yourself TODAY you will find faults in it... The thing is humans don't like to be proved wrong and u guys have developed that mind set that any modern em song is trash
Jul 3, 2015 People def didn't hate XV on sight, some people were saying it's better than MMLP2...some people still say it's a step in the right direction. Can't speak for phenomenal cuz I listened to it once and didn't read the thread. All I know is @Nori thought it was so good he was buying it for people on iTunes. I agree there are parts where he sounds nice over the beat (like the "swallow hallucinogens" part), but there are still quite a few portions where he has that s-----y stop and go/monotonous flow which doesn't make the song enjoyable to listen to for me. I can't believe "sounds like actual music" is something we have to commend eminem for in 2015.
Jul 3, 2015 Alot of them are, as big as a fan I have become I'm sticking with his older stuff. Don't get me wrong he has given us a lot of good songs along with bad ones too in recent years.
Jul 3, 2015 Even if Eminem came out with a "classic" album in the next few years, people that hate him now would still do it anyways. Seems to be a trend to hate on him nowadays.
Jul 3, 2015 But really does Em have a "classic" left in him? (This is a question lol not saying he doesnt)
Jul 3, 2015 I honestly feel like he's ran out of topics...AND that is to be expected of a 42 year old rapper...The rap game is not very kind to the Old rappers. Sometimes I feel he's trying too hard now... I mean he can't drink,do drugs, party etc. Early in his career the topics he talked about were fresh now they are stale as f---, for a rapper whose life is his main Inspiration, it is a bad situation to be in, I mean look at his life...is it interesting...so how can he make interesting music...He fakes it that's why some of his songs have forced lines and passion something that didn't happen before.
Jul 3, 2015 He addressed that on KND when he said so many want champions to fall or fail something like that
Jul 3, 2015 From somebody like Eminem who constantly names himself an artist of words, they certainly are to study as much as to listen to, IMO.. Also, I have found several "modern" Eminem songs which I enjoy just as much as the "classics", so I certainly don't just assume a new Eminem song is trash. In fact, I rather look forward to a new song still, despite many disappointments I have had in recent years, I remain open minded to the fact the man can be called a genius in his field, and can come up with true art if he really tries. Name any other song made after, relapse say, and I will spend a half an hour writing up an un biased, overall review of lose yourself, which I haven't listened to in at least a year, and the song of your choosing. Highlighting the areas you mentioned, and comparing them. Most humans don't like to be proved wrong, rational humans love it, because it's a chance to learn something new. I recently seriously analyzed "Forgot About Dre", in comparison to "rap god" on another site in a similar discussion. I was surprised myself at how huge a difference there was in overall LISTENABILITY (which includes all the facets you mentioned, flow, beat, metaphors, cadence, ect..), which is what your whole argument is hinged on. You can judge from there if I am being overly critical of the new Eminem and his abrupt change in style, or if I am looking at it reasonably and just not liking the results.
Jul 3, 2015 I am not blaming anybody...I am a fan of different types of music from classical to rock and roll to even pop. So while I am not a hiphop head I still know music. Eminem has songs after encore that are better or at least on par with the first three classics...thing is they don't come often so I think his major problem now is consistency...relapse we have the accent, fixed it on recovery then started shouting, after recovery choppy flow started so if he can just combine the elements on good production we could have a classic...but then people will still hate it
Jul 3, 2015 After his addiction relapse and recovery had potential but accents spoiled relapse and people really didn't feel the serial killer vibe, recovery had potential too cause he had a lot to say about his addiction but because relapse some how flopped they went with radio friendly, corny a--- songs....So yes he has had his chance to release a classic and he blew it and the window is gettin g ever so smaller for him
