Eminem s--- talking MMLP2

Can you talk more about the nerdy aspect of rapping? The way you rap, which is so much about technical proficiency, is not what’s currently in style. Does that affect how you think about what you do? You have to know that your music is hitting the ears of younger listeners differently than it’s hitting your own.
It’s something I think about, and on the album I move in and out of flows to show that not everything I do is about being technical. But on a technical level, I’ve been rapping for so long that — I’m not going to say it’s easy — but I can just think of more s--- to rhyme with other s---. One of my regrets on the last album was putting out verses that were too long because I couldn’t get the rhymes to stop. I kept thinking of rhymes that kept the scheme going. That ability is something that makes a difference for me, and it’s why on a technical level I’m doing intricate stuff. It’s just easier for me to rhyme than when I first started.

How are you supposed to chase the first Marshall Mathers LP by dropping mostly pop songs ? And he really should update himself, nowadays Relapse is seen by most as his best album post-hiatus.

When you are a real artist. Musical artist, a musician whatever, you do kinda have to have your own lane. Here's the thing, with EVERY SINGLE music artist,whether is rap,rock,pop,jazz,funk etc. they always get that criticism from their fans "oh it's not old Kanye,oh it's not old Eminem,oh it's not old..." but if you put out good music it will not matter. They always want the artist to be like they once were but that's not possible.They have to move on,create something different. Good but different. And with every passing chapter in their music career they will say they miss them when they made music like that but the good music will be there, just different.
