I think you're starting to see a clear divide in fans again. With the last few albums Eminem has showed fans he is capable of what he used to do and that includes doing his own hooks and rapping on production either he made or is tailor made for him and then you have the real die hard rap fans that want guest features and they want that rap sound, the kind of sound that wont be played anywhere on radio nor streamed in large numbers.

So you have those that have You Gon' Learn, Stepdad, Marsh, Farewell, I Will, Alfred's Theme, Tone Deaf, Discombobulated as their top songs and the group that has all the features and producers no one has heard of. It's interesting to see and I think Eminem sees it too. It's no accident Discombobulated was the last song on the B Side. It's an interesting mix, give us some songs that SOUND like other rap songs that are popular and then sprinkle in what you really are and who you really are and what really made you sell the records you did.

I felt the same way with the Shady XV album. 9 out of the 13 songs either featured him or were solo songs from him and even then I thought.......actually I kinda just prefer Eminem on his own, on his own beats. It's like a lightbulb moment where you realise actually he is still the same rapper he always was. I just know now that with every project I'm always gonna gravitate to the songs where it's him alone on there and him doing the hooks himself. I do like the beat to Black Magic though.....but I think that's because it's a beat that Eminem could easily have done himself. LIke Stepdad, Alchemist did Stepdad but it's pretty much an Eminem beat. I remember the heat that the Shady XV track got and yet Alfred's Theme is not too far off it, the beat is another song basically, all he did was add drums and he raps that way, it's up there with So Far... and Heat and Remind Me but yet everyone loves Alfred's Theme. I think enough time has passed where fans are kinda realising maybe some of the older stuff isn't as bad as they thought.

I agree with most of it but Farewell is a radio song. Its not really Em for me. Feels like he made this for his daughters to catch a sun island summer vibe that most mainstream young ppl like. Its that spanish/summer type of music that a lot of girls fall for. Absolutly not my cup of tea.
Alfred's theme sample isn't for me either. Good rapping but gets boring sonically. Em was known for making his beats dark, interesting, sometimes emotional and rich in variety.
Best example is TES (Whole album) Lose yourself and even songs on Encore like Yellow Brick Road, Mockingbird & Spend Some Time.
Believe is also a beat that I put in that catagory.
Stepdad is by Em only the sample is by Alchemist rest is Em production. This is also an interesting beat. On side B it was Higher.

Well... actually the sample in Stepdad is from an Argentine rock legend (who sadly passed away about 7 years ago) Luis Alberto Spinetta, and the original song is "Ámame Peteribí".
There's a very curious story behind that sample, but I can't find any article in English (only in Spanish).

    EDIT: Found it: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/...rgentina-band-pescado-rabioso-stepdad-939783/

"“I asked them to send me the track before I gave the final approval, but they told me that it couldn’t be done — that the only way was to call me and let me listen over the phone.”"

you're right but Alchemist gave this sample to Em (maybe cleared) the drums sound Em maybe Al did the bass but apart from that everything sounds like Em and Resto.

To everyone saying Higher would have not been the best single to release first.
Look at this reaction video, this was basically the majority of us at first listen.
The way this guy breaks down the lyrics makes this track even better!

But the flow and vibe of the song is different from Remind Me and Shady XV. Some parts are similar, yes, but Alfred's Theme sounds better as a whole. Personally, I would have prefered AT to be shorter.

Playing songs like Book Of Rhymes, Zeus, These Demons and Higher in your car, at night, hit a lot harder.
Specially if you're driving alone with no one else in the car.

    Check this one out too:

That is basically the same reaction everyone else who record themselves listening to it have.
    Everyone. No exception. Even women.
They all love the song. They say they're going to add it to their workout playlist.

But yeah, people in here think it's too "generic" and wouldn't be successful as a single with a video. LMAO.
