I wonder if Paul's transition to Def Jam is causing a delay? It would make sense. He was probably close to starting the release cycle this summer but once Paul got that job offer and accepted it, the business side of things took priority. Not only will Paul remain as Em's manager while heading Def Jam, but they need to figure out what to do with Shady Records and the artists. More importantly, they need to identify someone new to run the label and transition that workload from Paul to the new guy. This takes time, effort, and resources. I wouldn't be surprised if this inadvertently postponed Em's album.

Either that or he's lost all confidence in his songwriting and content creation and has no clue where to go from here.

what i’ve gathered from various press releases is that em’s album is finished and shady records operations have been moved/are being moved to def jam headquarters. also i think the album comes out when em wants it to tbh

Personally, I think everyone (myself included) has become too impatient. If you watched 'The Defiant Ones', it is clear that Jimmy and Dre (irrespective of whether they are involved now or not) instilled a level of cautious care and concern with their artists. Case in point, the top albums of their time, and a large percentage of the top albums of the late 90's/early 00's.

The problem is that, with the Long Tail effect and a mass amount of content, together with artists such as Weezy (back in the day), Future, Migos etc etc; we've become particularly impatient with waiting for content.

I agree, it is a d-ck move of Shady to keep us in the dark for this long, however, one's gotta respect that things change and take time.

Anyway, that's my two cents.

Yeah but remember when Eminem dropped his best three projects within a three year timespan (along with Devil's Night and 8 Mile)...I think it's more a lack of motivation or direction than a calculated strategy
