Yea I hear ya. It's funny cause I only like Brainless, Evil Twin, Baby, Groundhog Day, Wicked Ways, and Don't Front. I like these songs so much though, that for me it elevates MMLP2 higher than Encore. I hate a few of those choruses but his verses in those songs are f---ing ridiculous. Sure he might not be saying anything meaningful in terms of his personal life but that's pure uncut rap right there. Plus it won't grow stale to me because there is no specific subject. I can listen to that years from now and still enjoy it. It's the same reason I can throw on Big Pun's first album and enjoy it as if it came out yesterday. The whole "f--- you im the greatest rapper ever" s--- talking lyrics will almost always win in my book. But I grew up in the 90s golden age when it was all about dope lyrics and bragging and punchlines and general s--- talking. (Having said that, I would still like some serious or personal songs on his new album because when he creates songs like that, he almost always makes a classic.)

Anyways, that's roughly 6 MMLP2 songs that I really like a lot. There's probably only 3-4 songs I really like on Encore. Encore has better content, generally speaking, but I just can't listen to them. Like, I will never throw on Toy Soldiers or Yellow Brick Road or whatever when I'm bumping music. I can appreciate their meaning and how truly incredible they are as a song or concept, but for me, I never ever listen to s--- like that. Yea it's awesome the first few times to hear where Em is coming from and how he feels about a particular subject but I get bored of it, especially as the years go by (this isn't true for all his other story telling songs, but these from Encore especially I feel this way. There may be other songs I feel the same way about). 99.9% of the time, I just want s--- that puts me in a good mood or gets me amped up.

I feel you 100% on loving that type of rap and it never getting old. I grew up in that time period as well. Don't Front, Groundhog Day, and Evil Twin are f---ing nuts! It's what's great about him. Even on my least favorite album of his I still find tracks that I love. It's just something about that execution of that album that irks me. It's not the title. Maybe I'll stop and try to put my finger on it one day.
That's interesting what you say about Encore. I love those songs more than anything on MMLP2 but they aren't getting bumped very often.
I do know one reason why I'll always hold a grudge towards that album is that we learned like nothing new on it. Headlights was phenomenal in thought but trash compared to what an apology song should have been after all the s--- he said about her. I wanted a solo track that was an instant classic. Still pisses me off.
Every album we learned something and MMLP2 fell flat with that in my eyes.
