I agree it's a pretty average album all things considered which is a true shame. The highs are some of his best work but there are so many lows that greatly take away from the quality of the album. Having said that, I don't know why but I just can't get on board with the train of thought that Bad Guy is the best record on the album. In all honesty, I don't even think it's that great of a song. I like the last verse when the beat changes but to me outside of that final part where he's rhyming with a lot of emotion, the whole revenge thing in 75% of the song sounds so forced to me. I just wasn't feeling it and I still don't feel it. To each his own obviously. But that final verse and 2nd beat are sick!

In my opinion the best song on the album is either Evil Twin or Groundhog Day. Baby has some of his best verses ever and if it had a better hook it would prolly be my favorite. But that hook? Nobody puts baby in the corner?! Dirty f---ing dancing??? Really Eminem?

Edit: I'm a moron. Even if Baby had a different hook it's still nowhere near as good as Evil Twin or Geoundhog Day. Don't know what I was thinking.

I've always liked Bad Guy as a whole more than most I think. Don't get me wrong, I love the self-realization at the end but there's something about the entire song I just love. The beat, the hook, and it all being in Eminem's head wraps it up nicely

While I wouldn't agree that Baby has some of his best verses ever, I will say I think it's one of the best songs from MMLP2, even if it is a bonus track. The beat is very similar to something you would've heard him rapping on during TES. I agree the hook could be better.

actually meant to say that, was just thinking today how it's not his worst album but it's his most average meaning that the highs and lows don't range but there isn't much high and there isn't much low

Totally hear where you're coming from. It's always interesting to me to hear/read someone else's opinions about em's music cause when they don't share my views, I always think "what the f--- is the person even talking about?" Haha

Thanks for sharing your opinion. I like a lot of your posts. Your one of the few members here where I actually value their opinion.

i would say that out of those bad guy, evil twin, groundhogs day, and don't front (which isn't even on the album) are actual highs
but i would say rap god is a high you didn't list

people will get mad at me for not putting brainless on there, but i can stand that verse where he's just listing thing "extension chord blah blah blah" plus i don't think it dated well

but even those highs aren't that high when it comes to songs like GTC or Stay Wide Awake from previous projects

of course it's all opinionated i just don't think mmlp2's sound stood time it already just sounds generic and it's only been 3 years

I never liked rhyme or reason as much as everyone else. I found it to be the starting point of that stop go flow honestly.

agreed on the rest. mostly Love Game, Evil Twin, and Groundhog Day. and he flows like a MFer on Wicked Ways

indeed rap god is a really good song , showing em's skill on the mic perfectly rhymes flow wordplay
i love brainless a lot tbh and i like to consider dont front from mmlp2 since some got it with some game just cuz the sample wasnt cleared in time
gtc not even my favorite from recovery nor is stay wide awake from relapse

legacy wasnt bad either except the hook and i've found the monster a pretty good single for what it is , a single featuring rihanna

I can understand why people don't like the chorus, it's very 90s Marilyn Manson-ish, but god d--- if Em isn't in tip top lyrical form these days. He destroys those verses. How people aren't loving this modern day flow blows my mind. I understand the choppy stop and go is too much but he's not doing that in every single song. I don't know, I think technically speaking MMLP2 is by far his best work. But overall it lacks emotion which is why many on this forum don't like it. I get the sense that most people on this forum aren't real hip hop heads but like Eminem because he's more appealing than traditional technical rappers. I dunno, I love modern day Eminem. If you asked me back in 1999 what I thought Eminem would sound like in 2017 I would have never guessed he'd be a technical, "rapper's favorite rapper" rapper. And frankly, I'm not complaining since we're lucky enough to still get new, quality rap music from a dude in his 40s. Name another rapper that has been this good in his 40s. It's a VERY short list.

ik that choppy spoken flow similar to the one of 3k he does its not that pleasant but its mostly cuz of his voice , the flow is incredible from a technical point but not enjoyable
i like the song mostly cuz of the 2 different personas of the verses even tho he had one bad line on there that he thought is funny but its not , the one with rampage

I agree, I'm not a fan of rhyme or reason. In fact, I really dislike the rock infused beats he used between XV and MMLP2. They just don't appeal to me. And the verses in that song annoy me. Is that the song where he raps about taking a s---?
