partials only count after a significant chunk of the song has been played. you can test this by going into itunes, playing a song, and then skipping to the next song. you need like <15sec left on the track before skipping for itunes to record it as “played”

Im 100% convinced it wont "leak" till last minute, because they will ship it at the very last time possible. So probably delivered by thursday at the least. Any Em album wouldve been stolen, leaked, people wouls have posted pics etc etc. It just isnt at stores yet, im sure of that.

In the new structure, 150 streams of a song equals one paid download, and ten paid downloads equates to an album download. So, an artist’s music will have to be streamed on any of the approved, included services 1,500 times for an album “sale” to be counted.

If, say, 1,500 people play Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space”, that will count as one sale of her album 1989. The RIAA is still going to be specific about which songs are featured on what records, so artists will continue to see certain albums being awarded.

Nope, it doesn't. Sales through stream count like that because with about 150 streams, the revenues for the company/label are the same as if the song was bought. So when you download the album you've to play it in order to give it streams.

Ahhh very interesting.

All this talk makes me think how historically, artists often got screwed by the record companies. But now in the age of streaming, it seems like it's only more extreme.

I don't know why anyone would get into music/film or politics as a career. Hobby? Sure. But a full time gig? No thanks.
