For that to work we would need to think of "recovery" as literal and "relapse" as the album. That's too confusing. it could easily just be album recovery and literal relapse, and still fit with the timeline.

Wait, if he's using double meaning for Recovery, that would mean you agree with us. Cause double meaning there would be his actual recovery and the album Recovery. You're saying he meant "Relapse" as double meaning. But the phrase "on the verge of relapse" cannot be for the album because you cannot be on the verge of releasing an album.

Relapse is when you're supposed be clean but you take drugs again. Eminem relapsed ONCE after his overdose in 2007, then decided to get clean forever after that

The whole concept of the album "Relapse" is that Eminem has relapsed and he's become the monster "slim shady" aka "accent".Thats why its a fkin storytelling album and called "Relapse". i swear u guys are f---in IDIOTS sometimes

Why would he mention it in that freestyle couple of years ago then? He said "For King Mathers I still get h---, so call me sir (sigh) like I exhaled". But it doesn't matter if it's King Mathers, whatever the album was at the third verse of Castle, he snapped out of it and went on to "outdo Relapse with Recovery...". I see you're taking the "outdo Relapse" phrase wrong. He didn't bash Relapse there, he simply said he's about to release 3 albums, each better than the one before, and make a victory lap with Revival. He's saying not only did he came back, he came back and kept getting better and better.
