Jul 2, 2024 Hard to pin down what even his 4:44 would look like. He’s been in the position to make an album that is literally whatever the f--- he wants for a very long time and with every release he still operates like a billion dollar brand with 1,000 hands in the cookie jar who are terrified of wavering from what has always worked rather than an actual human being with artistic aspirations. Ostensibly his 4:44 would be like a bunch of Dre and Alchemist beats with LL Cool J and Redman features, why doesn’t he do that? He could do that and still do the same numbers. Maybe the answer is that this is truly what he wants to be making and thinks it is great.
Jul 2, 2024 yeah but didn't they merge in the Houdini mv? and that's track 11. what's he going to do, split again and k--- him? Lol why the f--- am I even thinking about this bs
Jul 2, 2024 Yeah. I'm hoping it's not an album of two halves. Like half 'shady' half 'em', where he jus tries to do half s--- talking half serious tracks, I think it'll feel disjointed and like, well jus two albums like Encore with the half silly half serious.
Jul 2, 2024 If we get a song with him using AI Slim shady actually rapping a verse, instead of ad libs, and done right, Album of the year.
Jul 2, 2024 In fact I would be shocked if there is not a Ai slim shady verse, with this whole other dimension concept
Jul 2, 2024 Adlibs are the best thing about his newer s---. Background noises and hyping himself makes what he does pretty unique and his own thing. Used to be annoying but he has made it more cartoony like he used to back in the day and works for his current style imo.
Jul 2, 2024 Imo, the concept of the album is. You want shady? I brought him back. Oh, but you wanted shady from 02? Fine I'll bring him back. One last time. But then I'm killing him, and never bringing him again. "So enjoy it and never bring it up again" basically what I'm getting from this
Jul 2, 2024 This could backfire greatly, because if this album is a classic with the help of Ai Slim shady, people will always request it. He has to have a plan to make people in someway stop the comparisons otherwise, it's going to open up a bigger can of worms
Jul 2, 2024 Well the whole 02 thing is confusing. Bc ppl mostly want 'shady from 00' aka mmlp lol. And mmlp is his gold standard artistically, and what he said he's chasing... AND is how he's dressed in the Houdini vid - earings + white t + baggy pants + dog tags = 00/mmlp Em, despite stepping out a 02 portal. Fkn confusing.
Jul 2, 2024 He’s done nothing over the past 15 years to show us he can return to form. Nothing at all. This ain’t gonna be any different and this new single shows that. He just can’t do it. Death of slim shady is probably just his way of saying I can’t do that anymore. I can’t give you that. He will probably have a few ok cuts on it. But a lot of it points in the direction of him still rapping like he’s been rapping for the past 5 years or so. If he could do what everyone wants him to do I’m sure he would have given us that by now. But he can’t. So we get this instead.
Jul 2, 2024 Relistening to MMLP Man it's so beautiful and I'm kinda sad that Em never got to recapture that same magic again, this album is just otherworldly
Jul 2, 2024 It's hard to recapture someone that just pops on the radar, that people actually think is insane. We know Eminem is harmless now so it's almost impossible for him to recapture it. When he first came out I actually believed he's insane
Jul 2, 2024 Cap, I will had the closest vocals to his fight music era then anything we've heard. This song isn't even a complete song, more like a freestyle sess
Jul 2, 2024 I would argue that he has made songs that prove he can return to form but most of them are around that 15 year mark. It's been way too long. At this point you gotta wonder if Em's early career wasn't just lightning in a bottle. I think even the most hardcore stan has to admit he's been bad longer than he's been good
