Jul 7, 2024 Holy f--- Baby Tron went from 2.5 mil monthly listener pre-Tobey release to 6,5 in less than a week
Jul 7, 2024 Still can’t get over How terrible Tobey is - we are in for such a s--- album if this is the choice for second single. I can feel the disappointment already. One guy mentioned it on here instantly disqualified from top three purely because it will have this song on
Jul 7, 2024 Not calling Recovery a classic or anything, but wasn't Won't Back Down the second single off that?
Jul 7, 2024 This just proves my point But Tobey is far worse than won’t back down -We’ve got to the second song and the theme has already been abandoned - why would you take somebody else’s leftovers and use it as literally, your second single, especially when it has nothing to do with the concept of of your album ? I will tell you why because he liked the melody at the start and those footsteps because it sounds really Slim Shady and he liked the spider goat line but he had to take the rest of the song in order to have that one line lol not to mention, Peter Parker got bit by a spider not Tobey Maguire so the whole idea of the song in general is just stupid anyway
Jul 7, 2024 I personally like Tobey, but regardless of what you think of it, i'd not read too much in to singles. Even discounting his My Name is/Without Me/Real Slim Shady/We Made You/Houdini songs - He's had Won't Back Down for Recovery, Survival for MMLP2 - Songs that i'm sure most would say are weird choices and probably not the strongest on the albums. Your smart move with singles is to hit them with a strong one first, and then have a third one that will do well as the album comes out. Second one is just to keep people going, usually isn't a strong one that will do much in the charts. Also worth baring in mind, as people have said, there are the odd skippable songs on even his classics - So there's always that. Ignore this if the album comes out and it's s--- lol but i'm just saying that there's nothing to worry about yet.
Jul 7, 2024 All subjective, but I see Won't Back Down completely differently. Even if Tobey's not your kind of song, at least it has a beat that's nice to listen to, and 3 people are really trying to flow over it. Won't Back Down to me is a headache. It's him shouting, an out of place chorus, and a really clunky rock beat. Skip it every time I listen to Recovery. Don't think i've heard it all the way through since like 2011, if i'm honest.
Jul 7, 2024 I just talked with Maguire he confirms he got bit by a spider in the early 00s - so lyrics stands
Jul 7, 2024 At least it’s him rather than three minutes of other rappers who nobody gives a s--- about
Jul 7, 2024 LOL in what f---ing world is Won’t Back Down better than Tobey? That song is awfullllllllllllllll and people keep saying it’s abandoned the theme when we haven’t even heard the album yet. We don’t even actually know the full theme yet. We literally know nothing about the album aside from 2 songs that are out. Both songs mention Shady, btw.
Jul 7, 2024 For one, i'd rather hear Em will some relevant rappers that are giving it their all, than trying to desperately drag life out of Dre, 50 Cent, etc. For two, i'd rather having quality over quantity. One verse of him not doing stupid puns, not going super sonic, and flowing like f--- over 3 verses of him screaming punchlines you'd hear in Christmas crackers whilst Pink awkwardly sings, wondering why she was invited.
Jul 7, 2024 So you think he’s going to drop the video for Tobey on Monday to release the album on Friday with a new video and single to completely wipe Tobey away from people’s attention
Jul 7, 2024 I like Tobey in general it’s just not catchy enough to be a single. It’s a song I’d prefer to hear within the context of the album. As a single, I don’t see how this is supposed to help sell the album. Em’s practically a feature on his own song with two rappers whose verses didn’t really stand out to begin with. It just doesn’t make sense.
