Jul 7, 2024 I remember getting the Relapse leak and replaying Beautiful over and over. That's how i expected Ems comeback album to sound after the hiatus. The rest of the songs and that style took a while to come round too, but i remember 13 year old me thinking "why does this one sound so different to the rest of the songs?". It felt liek that was the only song that felt like an "eminem song"

Jul 7, 2024 People may not believe this, but hardly anyone rated Deja Vu as some some sort of great Eminem song until @WPG rated it as a 10/10 (i think) in his infamous Relapse review. I think someone still has screenshots somewhere but he did an album review on Relapse and his Deja Vu write up explained how it was a great song and the only one where the delivery makes sense, the concept works, the hook works and everything ties together perfectly. It was from that day onwards that many people realised that it was one of Ems great songs. (id personally rate it a 7.5)

Jul 7, 2024 That was the drama, it's like people spent like 10 or so tracks getting used to the style, thinking it's accents through out, then he pops up with a beautiful out of no where, then goes back to the accents. People were like, why wasn't it all like that. And also, if you're gonna do the accents, why put one normal song.

Jul 7, 2024 Guys be honest. Who really has a good feeling about this album? Some will probably say I'm hating again but I have a feeling this album will be very bad. That fact that he thinks that Houdini will make him get cancelled was very shocking. He seems more out of touch than I thought. I would love to hear the scrapped Kamikaze songs that he said went too far tho. But he is too p---- to put them out.
Jul 7, 2024 I think we get at least a Kamikaze/MTBMB Side A level album, worst case. Which wouldn't be end of the world, but would be disappointing. I genuinely think he does better than everything post recovery at least. Just my feeling. As far as how far he goes with offence, I think there's 2 reasons that he caps it. For one, a 51 year old man who a broken condom away from being a grandad would sound mental going past a certain point. Also, I think if we're talking about his work trying not to be outdated, I think going for complete shock would only lead to it sounding worse over time. And I don't think it's a woke thing or 2024 thing, cos MMLP was the last album that he truly said whatever the f--- he wanted. But the landscape changed and he matured. Even on ES, for the most part the shock comes from his language and toilet humour rather than going full throttle. I genuinely think the best way he could do a mix of the times would be to make harsh punchlines but out of terrible people. Epstein's, R Kelly's, etc. The culture allows for people to get shocked by content, but then not give too much of a f--- because they're already universally disliked. The other way is to name names with rappers. But for one, I don't know if it gets in the way of the conclusion of his concept. And for two, it's hard to do that at his age and not seem like he's trying to sell some records.
