Jul 11, 2024 I've said it before, but for the slow ones at the back- A concept album doesnt have to tell a dot to dot picture, and it doesn't have to be the same style through out. It can just be a certain progression through the album, or an underlying theme. So when there isn't a track either side of Houdini and Tobey holding your hands and explaining exactly why they're there - don't panic.

Jul 11, 2024 I mean, that's flat out wrong. 99.9% of concept albums have different topics and sounds but enough of an underlying theme or clear progression. For instance, with Mr Morale, Kendrick doesn't spend every track talking directly about dysfunctional black families and abuse within them, because that would be overkill and bordering on boring. He branches out but keeps coming back to it.
