No replay value at all. One of his weakest IMO. Revival had better highs than this.

It’s weird because I hate Spotify’s UI & love Apple’s, but maybe it’s about what you get used to. What platform are you on?

It comes back to the impact the first 3 albums had, and how they have virtually no skips. When you listen there’s nothing to complain annd everything is fire, unless you’re easily offended and have no sense of humor.

However, most of these songs are very old now and have been listened to countless times by all. Also many do not have modern content or subject matter. Thats not just true of Gen Z and a few millennials, but it’s true for many of ems now aging fans (many of which are now raising families)

All these factors play into the legendary and untouchable status that the first 3 albums have and they pass the listening test because em is hungry, fresh and young. The content is 100% authentic and idgaf (vs) him just trying to redo things that worked before. This only adds to their appeal.

Encore and Relapse stay on that level, but have more skips, which makes it easier for people to say:

“Hey look - this TDOSS album is modern subject matter mixed with nostalgia - with a lot of emotional relevance with its subject matter, and it barely has any skips”

I’m a big fan of Recovery but don’t consider it a classic because its fresh subject matter and most of it is still relevant today for many of us.
MMLP2 is the same way but with more diversity in the content and subject matter, which brings us back to the skip issue.

Revival is a notch style unicorn meant to try to appeal to the younger generations. Most true em fans dont regard it very highly, not because he tries to be more authentic to the older em but because there were too many cooks in the kitchen and a lot of the flows were too “fresh” and “different” for their own good. A lot of the songs also suffer from questionable sound bites and word usage.

I believe m2bmb to be a modern day classic without the highs/lows of most of his other projects. Was good enough that he could have rode off into the sunset after dropping it and simply collaborate here and there.

However,, some of his OG fans would have felt like he left them hangin. So here we are with TDOSS, this one is for the OG fans and he tries to explain to them why he is no longer that guy.

So far it's my least favorite song, not counting the sad ones since I cannot listen to em. But I cannot decide on favorites.

I was on Spotify for years but switched to Apple music maybe 2 years ago. Way better sound quality and the UI is great, just took some getting used to.

Didn't Spotify switch to like a Tik Tok UI?

Tldr the first three have a set standard. Encore and Relapse share it but have skips (Relapse doesnt for me, its perfect). Recovery and latter stuff is too modern subject wise
