Jul 17, 2024 Obviously we can’t know, but we can try to do some assumptions (referencing a twitter post I found a short while ago). The current album has a bit better streams than MTBMB and almost the same as Kamikaze. Only problem is that MTBMB had no promo and Kamikaze (even though it had less tracks) had a lot of hype around (MGK diss, Sway interview, Venom movie, etc). This time around we had a full fledged rollout with Houdini having the biggest replay value released before and also Tobey. This translates in around 150k (I think) sales that aren’t added to the first week. So realistically it did a lot better. Godzilla carried MTBMB and if it was released prior I don’t think it would’ve cracked 150k copies sold first week. Regarding the pure copies, Kamikaze did 2x more and and MTBMB is around the same numbers. But I think at that point the pre-orders for the physicals also counted. This time they are not counted. MTBMB had also 3 different covers for the CD and for the vinyl and tape as well. Revival rollout doesn’t count as it was a bit weird. But I doubt it would’ve had the same success with no pop feature and no physical CDs/pre-orders. Side B was a “deluxe”, but it didn’t crack 100k with a single on the release date. Same thing with physicals with multiple covers. I think the album is doing fine taking into account it’s a pure rap album, with no big names, no big pop features and no physicals counted until their release. The strong point of Em’s fans are digital downloads and sales (as seen) and not streaming. Not sure if it’s what they expected, though.
Jul 17, 2024 Tobey as a second single was a yuge mistake. It has pretty much nothing to do with the album and probably shouldn't even be on it. With Evil/Lucifer/Antichrist as the second single, I bet it'd hit 400k even without physicals. h---, both even play into the devil baby promo.
Jul 17, 2024 It kinda suits the song that he ends it with his 'latest' album flow. I f---ing hate fast s--- but here it was a cool ending to the song imo after all these flows
Jul 17, 2024 Head Honcho has very quickly grown on me Bad One has kinda slipped away from me, feels like it drags on and some of the flows are quite bad imo
Jul 17, 2024 Which is why Em never stops throwing jabs at them. Nice avy. Also, are you a dragon ball fan by any chance (because of your username)?
Jul 17, 2024 Temporary is an incredible song...but I have always said When I'm Gone will have a different meaning or will feel different when Em is not here anymore. Easily top 5 or top 10 song of his of all time.
Jul 17, 2024 Thanks bro, actually used this username when I was stanning bojack horseman show but I grew up being a dragon ball fan back then beggin my parents to buy me all the vhs and stuff to watch it on repeat lol d--- good times.
Jul 17, 2024 Several tracks are solid 9/10 or 10/10 on this album, but I have never been so sure of a song that's a 10/10 from the first listen as a lot of people agree on this one. I'm talking about Fuel indeed. Everything about it is perfect.
Jul 17, 2024 Nah not this one, but if Em'll take em too seriously and screw a future release cause of them it'll be a shame. He's definitely in the right direction for a while now and this album is rated lower than revival ffs.
Jul 17, 2024 I hope he can see through a bunch of snobs and pc people and notice that most of his fans love this album. I see nothing but praise tbh
Jul 17, 2024 It definitely is crazy and refreshing but I feel like there weren’t enough songs with “shady” and I don’t like listening to emotional songs much. This album may have ruined new regular Eminem (non shady) albums for me here on out, if shady is actually gone but I doubt he is. We’ve missed that vintage shady sound and flow. So f---ing good.
Jul 17, 2024 They played fuel on Friday and they all were blown away. Even Joe was. But Joe still didn’t feel like he needed to rush to listen to the album. Lol
Jul 17, 2024 Yeah should have come after GC2. This is what we want from eminem only tbh And also his verse on HH is dope af I like it even more honestly
